labor day weight gain AND loss

Last week, we had company over labor day weekend, coupled with a bunch of parties we went to. Somehow, being out of my routine, and going out to eat all the time, I packed on 10 wopping pounds by the end of labor day.

I tried to remain calm, and went back to my normal eating patterns, of basically fruit, vegees, and proteins, and each day, I lost about 2 pounds, and now, the 10 pounds is off. (It took about a week) Now this next week, i am going to try to lose another 5.

Does anyone else lose and gain weight this quickly?? This really only happens over holidays and vacations, when I over eat for more than two days. I seem to think that this is extreme.

I can fluctuate 3 lbs. either way in just 2 days. I think it is really water weight. People on low carb diets lose weight quickly at first, which is said to be water weight. Therefore, it seems logical that if someone is eating a lot of high carb, they would gain water weight. I know that when I have a binge weekend, I gain quickly, though I don't ever think I've seend a gain as high as 5 lbs. The scale is such a weird thing...there are times I don't eat as well and actually lose a couple lbs. the next day.

I think it is probably water weight, and could just be how your body processes certain foods.

That does seem like an extreme amount of weight over a week or so....but like Sylvia & Miranda said, it's probably water weight. Do you fluctuate this much over most holidays? (I tend to be more of the 3-5lb variety) I'm sure getting back into your 'regular' eating and workout routine those extra lbs will disappear!
