Eating between meals...good or bad?

"They" say, you should eat three meals a day. Period.
Personally, if I did that, I'd starve to death and wouldn't have much energy. I eat pretty much every 2 hours. My stomach tells me "it's time". It's just a matter of What.
I take food to work with me (see list below), I eat something small right when I get home and before I workout. After dinner though, it's over. No more eating until morning. Eating inbetween meals is not bad. It's WHAT you eat that matters. "Harfing" down a bag of Cheetos is not a good inbetween meals snack. For me, a Pria bar, some grapes, a couple of kiwi, a 1/2 cup of pasta, a handful of soybeans or steamed edamame pods - all really healthy, full of protein and other vital nutrients and are not really "eating" in between, but rather fueling your body.
If you work out, your body needs fuel, and three meals a day isn't going to cut it, especially the typical three meals most people have - something quick for breakfast because there is no time, something quick for lunch because there is no time, something quick for dinner because everyone is hungry....you see?
It's all about how much you eat in one sitting, but it's not about how often you eat - it's all about what you eat and how often and how much. We must all be reasonable with food...it's our friend...the good food anyway - we are what we eat...those silly elementary school slide shows weren't kidding!
Processed food is evil!! LOL (had to say it!)

The new consensus among health care pros is to eat 5 small meals a day to help maintain your glucose levels. As long as you emphasis small it is the healthiest way to eat and it keeps you from indulging in those food binges that happen when we get overly hungry. A Small meal would be 300 cals or less. Mine usually average 150-200.
Welcome to the board again>.. Keep the discussions comming

Yep....I agree, good for you! Holding myself back 'until' dinner, or whatever usually ends in disaster for me. I usually eat something small when I get up, something mid-morning, have lunch, then something after work (at about 3.30) and later the last meal- dinner, and I try to eat that before 8pm....then, like you, nothing until the next morning.
