Congrats on the great run ;) LOL If your sitting on the fence about a Tri and need a shove in either direction let me know. This Monday when I check in with Dolli I'm going to just start a Tri thread so people won't feel like we are being clicky. So come chat with us about running and biking at least. AGAIN GREAT JOB.
PS. What did you do to your toe? and Have you thought about taping it to the toe next to it during your runs to offer some stabilty? It might be something to ask your Dr about.
That's wondeful....and I know what you mean about feeling so proud of yourself. {I really have to get back into walking/jogging...but it's just so darn hot here at the moment that it's not something I really want to do.}
I know exactly what you mean about loosing weight and it's effects on performance. When I started running in 2003 I was 150. When I did my triathlon in June I weighed in at 125. My endurance and speed increased over that time frame. I'm sure both improved because of the weightloss. My ovarian cysts also became less active due to getting in better shape. So, I agree with you it's all interconnected.

I almost forgot the taping part. It's an old athletes trick. If you tape the affected toe to the toe next to it. *most drug stores carry athletic tape* it provides splint like support to the joint. Thereby in most cases reducing the pain and swelling. Since it is arthritic it may very well be helped by taping. Again, something to ask your doctor next time you see him :)
I can't wait to here about your runs now that you feel better.
