I need to make this quick 'cuz I have to get DD ready for preschool...
Friday I had my physical.

Oh Heather...I'm so sorry to hear your news.
Heather, I'm so sorry, this must be a tough pill to swallow with all the effort you have been making fitness wise.
Heather- hugs to you! It's frightening to hear of something *wrong* with our bodies, but at least you are finding out now, and I would agree with Stef & Miranda-- get things checked out...and find out all you can about it! The good thing is that you are already health conscious, so if there is anything you need to do/change it won't be all that difficult for you.
Good luck in the competition ;-)

Sorry for the shock, A heart murmur usually is congentital and not something that just pops up. However, changes in our own health (weight gain/pregnancy/age) can sometimes make it easier to find. I was diagnosed with a Mitral valvular prolapse at age 13. No Dr was ever able to "hear" the characteristic click until I was pregnant. Then you could actually hear my heart tick in a quiet room. Does this mean I didn't have the problem? No it was diagnosed when I was a teen by a cardiologist and an echocardigram. I had pictures and fainting spells etc. I had always had the problem. But the combination of hormones etc during my baby producing age made a congentital problem apparent. If I hadn't had all the extensive testing as a teen to find out why I was fainting the prolapse would never have been diagnosed until I was 23. (If that makes any sense) Anyway I think i'm rambling, My point is please please don't get too stressed out about it. Take it as it comes and trust your body. SInce there is a family history think of this as a wake up call. You now have a reminder to take care of your greatest muscle. BTW, I've had times where I have been on beta blockers to control my valve. Now with weight loss, exercise and managing how I let stress affect me I no longer have to take the blockers daily. My valve and my lupus are both under natural control and I am able to execise and compete. I'm proof that you can be "sick" and still be healthy.
Take Care of you
Sabrina
I've had a heart murmur all my life.

Thanks so much everyone!
