Thanks to all of you that responded and graciously welcomed me into your group. I am excited to be here. I thought I should tell you a bit more about myself and what I have been doing to get fit.
I can tell you that my metabolism really began to wane after the birth of my 2nd Ds when I was 30 and I started exhibiting signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism (although the blood work didn't catch up with my symptoms until 5 years done the line). I am now being treated for hypothyroidism. I have gained a little over 20 additional pounds since that time and was doing fairly well getting it off (slow but was down about 14 pounds) this past Spring until I found a lump in my throat-after biopsies, c-scans it was found to be a mass of thyroid cells due to my auto-immune thyroid disease. I had surgery to remove and I am doing fine but have gained back 10 of the lost pounds. My total cholesterol is up but my triglycerides are good. My endocrinologist (thyroid doctor) has given me until December to get my cholesterol down with diet and exercise. I started going to TOPS and have followed a variety of diets-WW, South Beach, my own concoction, etc and do well for awhile. The beginning of Sept. I started going to a step-aerobic, toning, and weight lifting class that meets 2-3 times per week for 1-1/2 hour sessions. Love it and lost 7 total inches in Sept. Well, Oct was vacation for our leader, kids sick, etc and we didn't meet for 3 weeks, I did off and on again exercise here at home and ended up gaining back almost 4 of those inches when I measure November 1st. I still go to my TOPS meetings for support, and am trying to consistently keep a food diary. I know that I do better when I drink lots of water, but have been slacking on that lately too. That's the history, here is my current (as of this week) schedule/goals:
Aerobics class M-W-F (except today I have to sub. work-I am a former school nurse and working my old job today)
Exercise on my own 3 out of the 4 days not in class.
Keep my diary.
Be more conscious of incorporating more veggies and fruit in my diet.
Drink my water!
Gain and give support on this board.

It is my first goal to lose 10 pounds and then I will go from there. I was very encouraged by the inches lost in Sept. and I hope to see those types of results in November. I just need to get completely back on the wagon!
Thanks for reading-now you know a bit more about me! Natalie

Thanks for sharing your history with us Natalie- sounds like you've had a couple of things to deal with in the past, but dealt with them you have; safely- which is great.
Wishing you luck on your goals for November ~IG
