HI EVERONE:

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME AT THIS BOARD, AND I AM HOPING TO GET SOME ADVICE.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 5 MONTHS TO LOOSE 15 POUNDS. I JOINED A GYM(CURVES)

CHANGED MY EATING HABITS AND STILL NOTHING. IN THESE LAST MONTHS I LOST 1 POUND AND 2 INCHES. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG. I AM ABOUT TO GIVE UP. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO ANYMORE. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS A LOT

Hi, and welcome! First of all, it sounds like you are doing really well. I think you should change your internal dialogue to say that you'd like to lose some weight and take up less space.

From what I understand about Curves, you are doing some weights with cardio intervals, like a circuit. Losing two inches is wonderful, it indicates you are losing FAT and gaining MUSCLE. Muscle keeps our metabolism going soundly all day and night long. You're right on track! It looks like you have only lost a pound, but muscle is less dense than fat, so it takes up less space. So you are smaller and stronger and your body is becoming an efficient fat burning, calorie using machine. Keep it up! Patience is key, you will see those pounds come off!

Just a story, after I started lifting, I weighed 155-157 pounds and fit very nicely into the jeans I wore in highschool at 125-130 pounds. I was more muscular, but still the same size. It was a much nicer look, I am by NO means the incredible Hulk Woman, I swear! Promise!! Now, i am shedding even more fat weight, so I weigh less and things are almost getting big.

Hi & Welcome to the Board of all Boards ;-)

First of all well done on making the committment to better your way of life, and you're doing great so far. Michelle has made a good point about 'Curves' circuit. The only thing I can think of altering to see more 'weight loss' results is to increase your cardio activity. Go for a couple of walks during the week (or even a jog or run)- how about playing a game of tennis with some friends? Cardio activity will help you lose some 'fat' and the weights help to tone it all.

Just my two cents....

Once again, WELCOME
