And, I guess I won't be taking the kids to MCD's anymore. DH and I had been so against letting DS4 eat anything from there when he was a toddler, but then we broke down and started taking the kids there on a regular basis (2-3 times per month).
Thanks for the interview Miranda!!!!!!

WHO Eats that much McDonalds??? This person set out to eat as much McDonald's as he could possibly eat every single day, Every single Meal, and make the "Supersized choice" Whenever possible. He went to the uptenth degree to make a statement.
Fine, Got it Fast food in large quantites or as the sole portion of your diet is bad for you. DUH!!! I think that's what my mother has been telling me for over thirty years now. Who doesn't really know that fast food is actually junk and should be eaten in severe moderation?
The movie has it's place for that small portion of society that needs the reminder but if you only eat McDonald's a few times a month and when you do make educated food choices (they do have nutrtional information available) then you will never need to be un supersized or have any major health concerns. I just get so tired of people going to the extreme doing everything in their power to misuse a source (ie: fast food) and then telling me it's across the board bad and has no place in my diet. Ofcourse it shouldn't be the cornerstone. It is empty calories and inflated fat but it can be a once in a while treat. In the lifetime of McDonald's and other fast food restaurants it seems, that our life expectancy is lengthing not reducing. The problem isn't the food it's the mind set that says fast food is a viable substitute for a real meal. NOT! It's still important to eat at restaurants who use healthy cooking and nutrition guidelines or ideally eat at home. WE are so crunched for time that we have sacrificed our reason in lew of the all mighty clock. I love to cook. I love to know where my food comes from 90% of my diet and my families is sound. That 10% where we use fast food for time reasons or just the odd craving is ok. I'm not overweight, My Boys are not overweight, Moderation in all things is key.
UGH ok off my soap box. I just get so tired of the sensationalizing of this issue. We all know that Portion size and Real meals are the key. Most of America is intelligent. I agree that supersizing is a real problem because it is pushed but it's not the sole responsibility of the fast food companies... When did we loose the responsiblity for ourselves and our own choices? At what point did we loose the ability to make sound decisions??? And at what point did the powers that be decide adult Americans had the mentality of a 3 year old. Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie. Me Want. All. Mine.???? OOOPs ok really done now.
Sabrina
Sabrina, there are definitely some great points that you made, and I'm a cooker as well so I totally agree that not ALL families are fast food addicts.
I don't think we have a wide divergance of opinion as I said I was playing devils advocate. It just astounds me how irresponsible Americans have become everyone has to place the blame somewhere other then at their own doorsteps. It's just a minor pet peeve of mine.
Sweet Karma...
I remember when that law suit happened. It still ticks me off that a parent can be that irresponsible and then blame the company. I think it just proves we need to have home ed in high schools again on a mandatory basis and maybe we can reteach everyone the basics. :)
I love a good debate. Thanks Ladies
Sabrina
You make a great devil's advocate Sabrina :-) and I totally agree with you on making people more responsible for themselves, I mean what on earth are these people thinking you keep cramming big macs into their mouths and then lose site of their feet?????
