1. Which food group do you most avoid? Why? grains and cereals, according to the ol' food chart. I don't want to eat too much bread, but I do buy grainy bread when I do buy it. And I never eat cereal. I am not a "carb conscious" person, but I do try to eat less of that stuff. I wonder if I am missing out on some fiber by ignoring this category.
2. Do you feel you eat a balanced diet? If not, where do you feel you need to make the most changes? Not quite. Although it's getting better, I need to add still more fresh fruit and veggies.
3. Cook at home OR eat out? At home most of the time.
4. What is usually your biggest meal of the day? usually lunch.
1. Which food group do you most avoid? Why? I'll have to agree with Kerstin here- I don't really avoid any of the groups (but like her I steer away from fish). I think if I was to seriously think about the foods I eat and which ones I should avoid it would be the starches!
2. Do you feel you eat a balanced diet? If not, where do you feel you need to make the most changes? Pretty balanced- well most of the time. I do need to work on eating more fruit. Veggie intake is fine.
3. Cook at home OR eat out? Mostly at home. I probably get take out about once a week, and eat out about 2 times a month.
4. What is usually your biggest meal of the day? Like Miranda my biggest meal is dinner, and as she said stemming from my childhood too. As a family it was the only meal we all got to eat together. I'm trying to eat it earlier than I have been, but it's not always feasible!
So the things I need to work on are; 1. Eatingless carbs- but still incorporating them. 2. Increase fruit intake- not juices! 3. Ensure healthy choices when I take/eat out. 4. Eat dinner earlier, and if there is need for a snack later make it a healthy one.
My quiz results were-
You scored 66.7% You've got a fear of fat. It's understandable. For years, scientists have scared us to death about fat, linking it to heart disease, cancer, obesity and just about every other ill. Now, researchers say we need fat in our diets, especially healthy fats (saturated and trans fats are still bad). So that plain bagel you've been eating would actually be healthier with a smidgen of cream cheese and a few ounces of lox. Adding healthful fats -— and I'll tell you more about them in the upcoming weeks -- actually helps you lose weight! Stay tuned.
You scored 16.7% You're a junk-food junkie. Those chips, fries and burgers are easy to grab and taste so good. But fast food is the fastest way to pack on pounds and hike your cholesterol. Good news: You don't have to say good-bye to your favorite foods forever. During the next four weeks, I'll show you how much junk food you can get away with -- and offer delicious alternatives with quick-and-easy meals.
You scored 16.7% You've got a sweet tooth! You're not alone -- and for good reason. Sweets raise endorphins, giving you a temporary high and quick energy when you're flagging. (Plus, they're satisfying!) Unfortunately, the effects of sugary foods are temporary -- while your body fat is here to stay -- and these foods are usually high in fat, which is bad for your heart. Ready to change your sweet ways? I'll show you how to get your favorite treats (in moderation) and have a healthy diet. Soon, your cravings for sweets will subside.
Vegetables and fruits. One reason, and not a good one, is that my family isn't into them too much. Why waste money and time if no one but me eats them. blah blah blah. Raw vegetables are okay with some ranch but just not my favorite.
2. Do you feel you eat a balanced diet? If not, where do you feel you need to make the most changes?
No, need to eat more vegetables and fruits which will help eat less breads and pastas.
3. Cook at home OR eat out?

4. What is usually your biggest meal of the day?

1. Which food group do you most avoid? Why? I don't intentionally avoid any of them...I have started trying to make better choices when it comes to the 'bad carbs' ~ because I have started believing that it is a source of weight gain in less than active people.
