Lasik Surgery

Has anyone done this? My DH's best friend does it in town here and is an excellent doctor. I'm going to have him do my eyes on the 20th. I'm blind as a bat...and let me tell you how I can't wait to be able to work out without glasses flopping around on my face.

Not quite sure if it's laser eye surgery you are talking about; if so here's what I know-
Three people who have had success with it. My Mom had one of her eyes done (I can't remember why only one, but there was a legit reason)....and is thrilled with the results. My admin at school had it done too, and is also very happy with the results. Both had the surgery done in Ireland. A friend of mine here had it done about 3yrs ago in the States, and she was 'blind as a bat' and has no problems to date.
Luckily my eyesight is fine, so I'm not speaking from personal experience. Perhaps there's someone among us who has had it done.....
Here's a link with some info on the actual surgery: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/lasik/
Good Luck, and let us know how it goes!

I don't want to be the negative person, but please take ALL the risks, small and large into consideration.
First of all, just make sure that you feel
Definitely sounds like LASIK's bads outweighs the problems you deal with. I'm like your stepmom. I couldl wear my contacts from the minute I woke up the time I went to bed. And do you know that i haev NEVER gotten pink eye until I was about to do the surgery. strange.
Also, it doesn't matter, to a huge point, who the doctor is. He could have performed on thousands of patients, but there's always a "% rate of failure" due to the fact that every person responds differently to the surgery. yes, the surgeon has a lot to do with it, but in reality, so does your body/eyes. lol.
Get this......EVERYONE I HAVE EVER SPOKEN TO, has said, "my doctor is the BEST in socal/LA/newport beach/orange county/whatever city" and I just laugh to myself. Because how can SO MANY doctors be "THE BEST". lol. Point is, I don't say my doc is the best, cuz anyone can claim that, all I say is this......when the Secret Service wants a person to get LASIK, they send them to my doctor. He may not be the BEST, but he's obviously damned good.
Yup, he is good, was GREAT. was using LADAR before anyone else (that's what I got, it's more common now), and well.............my eyes, are still not in perfect shape as to what I was BEFORE I had contacts. I would think that has to do with my eyes, not his ability.
Anyhow. You sound like you have a good reason. I wouldn't blame you. If I had those issues, I'd be itcing for surgery. Good luck. Tell me how it goes.
