We had a discussion last week that included good footwear and I got this 'RealAge' tip this morning;
Footwear That Doesn't Fall Short
Making comfy sneakers a top footwear choice can help older people avoid potentially dangerous falls.
A new study revealed that, in a group of people aged 65 and older, the people in the group who wore mostly sneakers experienced fewer falls than the people who tended to wear lace-up oxfords, heels, or other kinds of footwear. Walking barefoot or in stocking feet was most likely to lead to a fall.
RealAge Benefit: Actively patrolling your health can make your RealAge as much as 12 years younger.
Staying active, especially if you are older, helps keep muscles toned and can help you maintain your balance skills. Physical activity also will help keep your heart, lungs, and immune system in top condition. Falls are dangerous for older people because they can lead to bone breaks and other injuries that can impair quality of life. In addition to wearing appropriate footwear, other measures to reduce the risk of falls include placing non-slip material under rugs, tucking electrical cords out of paths or walkways, and making sure there is adequate lighting in the home for movement during both day and night.

See IG, I knew we were all right!!!
I'm really busy today just got back from vaca...and decorating my tree, now I have to make dinner...but I also wanted to add that you should *avoid* being barefoot!
I love wearing no shoes, but my podiatrist told me that wearing no shoes is B-A-D for your feet and you should wear them whenever you are walking-even if its just around the house.
