Low Carb Support Group

Since Sedigua brought up the great post about low carb, would anyone care to join me in a low carb support group here on this board? That is, if IG and Miranda think it's a good idea! :) I just don't know a lot of people in "real life" that are trying to do low carb, so I could use encouragement. I am personally trying to cut out only simple carbs from my diet, so the group could range anywhere from slightly low carb to very low carb. What do you guys think?

Sure it's fine with me-- that's what we're supposed to be 'a support' group. I know I'm trying to cut down my carbs so seeing what others are doing would be beneficial for me at least.

Good idea!

I could post to this group as well, my focus is on eliminating processed carbs and most grains and eating more fruits & veggies.

I'm not weighing again until end of Phase 1!

I would check in to a Low Carb thread. I am trying to eliminate the "bad" carbs. I have a particular hard time with soda. Just today I find myself getting a headache and dragging the first thing I want to grab is a soda. I know take two Tylenol and call it good. Some how I just crave the boost of the caffeine in a soda. I do try drink C2 or Pepsi Edge and in 12 oz cans. They are so hard to find though. At least in a mini mart type place. Even just breads and stuff seem to keep me going. I need other alternatives but just don't know what they are.

Also, when I was at mini mart getting my soda today I was going to pick up a power bar or something like it but there were so many brands to choose from I just ended up getting a nut and seed trail mix. yum. Do you guys have any suggestions??

I would be interested in posting to and reading a low carb thread...well, I like what Gretchen said about more of a 'smart carb' thread.

At work, I started to mix Swiss Miss No Sugar cocoa into my coffee...there's a jolt for you! It also has added Calcium, so I feel like I'm doing some good. 10 carbs/packet, which isn't as good as no carbs but it doubles up as a good chocolate fix.

I like the "Smart Carb" idea too. I think that is basically what we are all trying to do. I read that if you work out a lot, you really do need good carbs.

Hmm that is a thought. I'm really not a huge coffee drinker but maybe adding the chocolate mix would make it little tastier for me as well.

Well, how do you guys want to do this? Maybe start a separate discussion folder and post the carbs we eat each day?

How about starting a thread at the beginning of the week as the "Low Carb Thread" or something? ...doing it like that for a few weeks to see if it

I think Check-In is a good place to do like IG said, start a folder for each week for 'smart carb' talk!
