In case anyone is interested....
Its a sprint distance so its not what you think when you picture triathlons. Its more of a fun challenge to yourself. If I can go, its going to be my first.

Thanks! I might be interested. I've never done a triathlon before, but this one seems like something I could do if I train. The website didn't have much info, but they indicate that more will be posted in early 2005. I am within a few hours driving distance from Sandy Hook NJ so that would work for me. Where would you go? I can swim and run, but I'm mostly concerned with the cycling. No experience there. I have a hybrid bike - a cross between a road bike and mountain bike. Not sure that it's the best for racing. I've never trained for a tri before, so I don't really know where to begin. I'm sure I can find training info online, but if anyone has some suggestions, please let me know.
I think a race like this would be a great goal and might be just what I need to keep myself motivated to exercise and get in better shape.

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for them to post these! Thanks XOXOXOX

Well there are no Canadian dates at all, which is too bad!
I have been waiting forever too!!
I am going to Orlando, if I can work out the logistics. We are about 4 hrs from there.
I have a mountain bike. I figure its only 12 miles, I'm not trying to qualify for anything, and I am not going to invest $1200 in a new road bike just to race every now and then.
I don't think anyone is going to care what you are riding as long as you don't crash into them LOL.
Anyone else doing Orlando?
New and improved siggy coming soon (which could mean after Christmas)
Most people use a MT Bike or hybrid their first season.
Why? Because It's usually what they have or can easily get and because who knows if they are going to like it enough to ever do more than one?
Anyway my first race 2 years ago was on a hybrid that my husband bought me to putter around on. I didn't replace it for a year then I bought a very used road bike off ebay. I am still using that bike. I LOVE IT and the best part is it was well under $500 bucks. It will last me several more seasons before I am better then my current bike. Like a very well known cyclist says "It's Not about the bike".
Good luck to all of you who are thinking of doing Tris. They are a great way to get into shape and even loose some weight regardless of how long you plan on being a triathlete.

I was considering Orlando, but I don't want to spend the $ to get there, rent a bike, pay a hotel room etc...so I decided to do the one in MA instead.
Thanks Heather I'll check that out!!
