Update on my Lasik

Well, it went very well. The whole process wasn't quite as easy as everyone says, but it's over pretty quickly. I had my post-op this morning and everything looked good. My vision is now 20/25, and it will take a couple of weeks for it to stabilize, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends up. It's really weird to wake up and be able to see without fumbling around for glasses. I can't work out for 48 hrs., so I'm really excited to work out without my glasses. It's really such an intense experience...maybe not so much for someone whose eyesight really wasn't that bad, but for someone like me, it's been a trip!

Thanks for stopping in with an update Sylvia, I'm so happy to hear that it all went well and that you are "seeing" results already. I know that I've heard it's a pretty immediate result, but it still amazes me how fast it happens. Do keep us updated on how that workout goes, sans slipping glasses ;-)

Glad to hear everythign went well. My doc gave me half of a valium, did yours? And trust me, I am SO GLAD I took it. My only problem with the procedure was that I have small eyes, according to my doc, come on now, i'm asian. lol. So that hurt, when they spread them open. bleah. yuck.

Anyhow. good luck, and use TONS of eye drops. Even if you don't need them, use them constantly all day long. Trust me, do it. And then use them constantly for at least a few months. I think this will help prevent dry eyes. like mine. =)

how's your night vision? any starbursts? I have them a bit, but they get bad if my eyes are dry, so i just yawn, and ahhh...much better. =)

congrats again, keep us posted. and stay off the computer. lol.

btw. after my surgery, i was like, I'm buying one of those clocks where you push the button and it shows the time on the ceiling (obviously, I wouldn't have been able to see it before).

Enjoy your new found sight.

Thank you guys for your kind words! My eyes felt less irritated today, and yes, I've been using LOTS of drops! ;o) One eye got a little bruised from the suction cup, so it's pretty red, but my vision was better today than yesterday. I don't see the starbursts at night, but supposedly, my sight will fluctuate for the next couple of weeks. Cherbear, that's funny that they told you you had small eyes! My Dr. prescribed 2 valiums, one for me to take before surgery and one to take after. I could have used twice that amount! Valium rocks! LOL, that's the 1st time I've ever taken it, and I can see why they don't let you have refills!

Hello...I was wondering how bad your eyesight was before. I am very near-sighted and have astygmatism in 1 eye. I can't wear soft contacts at all. I have to wear the hard ones to get the best clarity. I've always wondered about getting the surgery, but I thought I was too far gone to be a candidate.

cheers,

I thought I was too far-gone also. My contacts were a -5.5 and a -5.25. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions! :o)

Just wanted to say what I have known. My vision was -6.5 in both eyes (I thought I was worse than you sylvie). And I was okay. My cousin was at -8.0, but she also paid about $6k to get hers done, they told her it would be iffy if she got to 20/20 cuz of how bad her eyesight already was. But she's 20/20 and has been for years.

My doc told me that their limit was -6.5. And anyhting over that, they wouldn't even give any sort of guarantee or maybe not do it. Depending on your vision, the doctor, and all that other great stuff, unfortunately you won't know if you're a good candidate for LASIK.

Good luck.
