Hello all who'll join my new discussion. I have recently read and am beginning the "8 Minutes in the Morning" diet/exercise program and would love to find some more of you out there who'd join me in 8 Minute talks. Sometimes I need a bit of encouragement, ideas and accountablility. I have no other friends to talk with for support. I welcome you all.

I just saw the link that I believe it was Miranda who posted it. Interesting. I think I could wake up a bit earlier and do this. =) It's not so intensive that I'd have to shower, and it wouldn't require me to "hit the gym".

I'm going to have to go see if this book is at MY local library. lol.

Welcome! I'm so glad you're joining the group and BIG congrats on quiting smoking! If your goal is your birthday in June, you'll be so excited to know that with consistency, you'll be completely changed, inside and out, for your big day!
As far as a chat room, this is more like posting notes that anyone can review. I usually check the postings about twice a day to try to keep up with all the postings I'm contributing to.
I've already started the program so just let me know when you start. It has 4 weeks worth of exercises that rotate, so even when I get to the fourth week I'll be starting over at week one. So don't worry, I'll be here the whole time. As I'd mentioned before, the reason I picked this program is because it's simple, uncomplicated. I think this could be perfect for your schedule too. With a husband working opposite shifts, three children and a full time job, I don't have an hour or two for the gym! This is perfect because I exercise in my pj's in the morning before I do anything else. You'll love it too. He does have exercises on ivillage that you could use to warm-up to the actual program. It'll get you into the right state of mind and routine until you get a chance to read the book. Also, you may want to look into the library having his other books that are body specific.

Yesterday I did great, but today wasn't quite so fabulous! I missed working out and was still late for work, but my eating has been good. I resolve that I will go to bed by 10pm tonight and I will wake up at 5:30am. Okay girls, hold me to it!!!
I'm also excited to announce that my good friend, Gina, will be buying the book today and hopefully joining us! She's grilling me with questions to make sure I really like the program and that she will too. Yesterday, I finally received my 8 Minutes to a Flat Belly. Sooooo excited. I'm wishing my fat belly a happy death and to not write me from the beyond!

Today, I did stay in bed a bit longer than I should've BUT I did get up and exercise. It felt great and plus, I've noticed that I've slept better the last 4 days. I really think that this program is why. That includes eating right and the exercise. I've always had trouble falling asleep, but I've been falling asleep so quickly that I haven't had time to look at the clock to see how long it's been (tossing and turning). I'm really excited about these results! It encourages me to keep on keeping on.

ROCKIN' AND ROLLIN' ON THE 8 MINUTE PLAN. I DID MY WORKOUT THIS AM. I'M STILL FEELING PRETTY SORE FROM YESTERDAY'S CHEST EXERCISES, BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE I KNOW IT'S HELPING ME GROW!

I was wondering, are you doing the food and cardio part of it too?

I think I need to up my weights, and start incorporating the cardio. So I can LOSE SOME WEIGHT...

sounds like you're doing well, keep it up!

Sometimes I add cardio. I do jump on my mini trampoline for at least 5 minutes in the morning and that is certainly cardio, but I find it difficult to do much more because of time constraints. In fact, just a bit ago I was thinking that I felt restless because I probably haven't used all my energy yet today, so I thought I might do my manual treadmill tonight. Only thing is that you're not suppose to exercise within 3 hours of bedtime or it'll keep you awake, so I'll have to do it as soon as I get home from work.
Today was soooo slow at work and I'm seriously board and restless!
Yes, the diet too. I fail to be consistent with the duplicated "cards" where you check off what you've eaten. I'm just not good with paper, but I've been doing 8 Minutes for about 6 weeks now so I have a better understanding and usage of the system by memory. I think the best thing I've done the last two weeks was to start eating a salad every day at lunch M-F. I know that this has made a big impact on my diet because I lost 2 pounds the first week! I'm learning to like veggies. I have found that I like them better raw than cooked. My mom saw me eating a baby spinach salad the other day and she commented on how my sis-in-law had made her a spinach salad the other day and she was reluctant to try it at first because she hated cooked spinach, but found that it's tastes completely different raw.. and loved it! I've still never tried cooked spinach, but love it in salad. I use dressing from the health food store because it doesn't have trans or partially hydrogenated oils (the same chemical compound for the hydrogen bomb, which is plastic!), sugar or preservatives in it. They had some sample packets that I'm trying before I commit to a regular size bottle. I'M SERIOUSLY LONG WINDED!!!
Okay, to finish this off, about the weights; I think one of the best things I learned from Jorge was about how to choose the right weight. It's so simple but it blew me away! If you can finish 12 reps without any problem, it's too light. If you can't finish 12, it's too heavy, so pick something that challenges you without preventing you from finishing!
I hope this has helped.
Hugs, Ginger
