Brief summary: I am 34 and I have 4 daughters. Ages 9, 7, 3 and a 5 month old. I gained alot more with my last pregnancy and she was my biggest baby at 9'12, very healthy little girl. It has left my "use to be" sleek figure. I do breastfeed and I stay hungry most of the day...I find my self eating more and I even finish the food my other kids leave behind (I dont want to waste their food) :) I am about 5'9 1/2 and I have long limbs. My problem is my stomach area and hips. My arms are somewhat thin and I even wished they were bigger. My stomach is thicker and my hips are bigger.

WHat excersizes are best for me...what about my eating habits? Since I am breastfeeding I need to keep up my supply but I desperately want to get back to my figure!

Any suggestions would be appreciated! I look forward to reading this board more often.

TIA

Hi Jen, and welcome to the board.

In addition to what Miranda had said, I immediately thought of cardio and the plank.

Cardio...for burning off some of the excess fat in your 'problem' areas (stomach and hips).

Welcome, Jen!

I am a 34yo bf Mama to an 11 month old who eats no solids, save an occasional spoon of veggies.

What beautiful girls you have!!

It is nice to see someone in the same boat as me. I never heard of that book but it sounds interesting. I am not sure how I can handle to watch my diet...it almost scares me! :)

Were you a part of the Sep 01 boards? Your name sounds so familiar! Its been a while since I posted on that board. It has gotten so slow this past 6 mos or so.

Do you find yourself 'sluggish'? I just cant seem to get motivated! I have no one to go walk with and if I do have time I have to worry about the baby and my other girls. (It takes an act of Congress to just get out of the house) lol I wouldnt mind takin them for walks but I would love to make it just 'my' time. Do you think the breastfeeding makes us a little tired?

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

I pretty much agree w/what everyone else has said. I found it uncomfortable to do high impact aerobics when I bf'd my son. Walking is great and so is lifting weights. Pilates would be ideal for your core. I remember being tired more from just being a Mommy than from bf'ing. I also worked full-time, so that may have had something to do with the exhaustion! Definitely eat healthy foods. You don't need to "eat for two." Just eat regular portions of low fat foods. Congrats on the BF'ing!!! I think it is one of the best things you can do for your baby!

Hiyya there Jen

I am a BFing mom as well, beautiful baby boy born 11/26 so I am only 6 weeks into it but hope that it works out long term. I am following the weight watchers program where you get appr. 500 extra calories a day for BFing (10 pts if you follow WW's). I just started exercising today with the Walk Away the Pounds tapes so I can't be of any help with the abs (I tried wearing tighter undies, its just not the same as firm abs lol)
Anyhoo-this is my first post to the board but hope to be around lots :) Good luck to you and enjoy the journey.
