Special K Diet?

I keep seeing the ads. And I'm like, would that really help you lose 6lbs in 2 weeks? I could really use the weight loss for now. My pants are so uncomfortably tight. and I know if I work out, I'll "buff up" a bit first. Then for sure my pants won't fit.

Your thoughts?

Tigerlily,

I agree. There is nothing magical about Special K. Never said there was. I just wnated something to kick start me really paying attention to what I eat, and losing some weight to make me feel good about it again. Right now, I'm hating myself and my life, and my tight tight clothing. And if I work out and gain muscle, my clothes won't fit, and I don't have money to buy another size. Trust me, I'm already pushing what I own to fit.

What you said, is the best way to lose weight long term. But to lose something short term, to make me feel better about myself, and for my clothes to fit, unfortunately, what you suggested, won't do it. In fact, it'll just make it worse (cuz my clothes will be 100x more not fitting).

There is nothing "special" about Special K. You can do this with Total, Wheaties, Cheerios, Shredded Wheat....and countless others, including your corn flake generics. This is just a Special K marketing ploy. All of these cereals are low in calories and fat. Although Shredded Wheat, plain or frosted, probably surpasses all of them in fiber...which is good for you.

That's what I was thinking too. I eat Raisin Bran for the 8g of fiber it gives me. I was thinking of just eating that twice, or buying something else, for at least a different taste.

But, you don't want to buy a cereal with 200 calories.

What the Special K diet said (somewhere) was that you could substitute other cereals that had similar nutritional values.

Definitely agree. I couldn't eat cereal for a long time, that's why the low carb stuff doesn't work either. I just need to adjust my eating habits. And you know, with WW, I did and I lost a lot of weight. That's what is getitng me thinking to go back. MAybe for a few weeks. cuz even with that, I lose interest, start to hate the counting, and the watching. but at least it helped me with portion control and making better choices. just kinda fell off that wagon.

ugh. one GOOD thing. all the chocolate i got for xmas, i'm putting out at my work, for someone ELSE to eat. =)
