Hello, I'm Melissa living with dh Ron who is active duty Air Force. I live on the central coast of California, so have no excuse to be overweight! Other than I love food! I have a great gym and other outlets to work out and all for free thanks to our base facilities. But, I also work and have 2 kids to keep going. Oh yeah, and the husband too! I would like to say hello to you all, and also suggest for some of you maybe to try Curves for Women. I did it for a year, til I finally started going to the gym on base. It is not too expensive, and works great. It is full of supportive friends and just women. And no mirrors. I miss it, but had to cut out some money spending.
Anyway, I hope to get some good advice and meet similar ladies to myself. Course, I am getting ready to turn 39 next month so in about a year I'll have to go on to the 40's board! Sheesh, where does the time go?
Take care!
Melissa

You will indeed get lots of great advice. This is a very active and interesting board.
Greetings from sort of sunny, cold Michigan.

Hey, we are from Kalamazoo, MI and visit there every summer! When it is usually sunny and hot. Nice to meet you!

Welcome Melissa!!

My BF grew up in Benton Harbor and his mom still lives there, so I visited the west side of the state a few times last year. I camped with my fam way up north on the west side in Petoskey last summer. Lake Michigan is really nice.
I'm in southeastern lower Michigan. Not a bad town, but someday I do hope to live very near one of the Great Lakes. I just love the time we spend camping near them. We often camp in Tawas, Tawas Point State Park on Lake Huron and Tawas Bay. I could live up there.
Thanks for mentioning Michigan when it's warm and sunny-good memories. Not as cold here as in Canada for poor Miranda, but it's cold.

Wow, you have only three months 'til black belt testing. Go girl.
I have the better part of this year for sure. There are about four of us whom they will want to be ready about the same time so we don't have a testing date yet.
Good luck with that. I expect I'll be quite nervous when I have to test, but I'm so looking forward to wearing that uniform.

Welcome, IslandGirl from the Virgin Islands here.....where we're lucky enough to have warm weather year 'round (though it's chilly these days at a mere 73F >blush<)
Looking foward to posting with you

Thank you...I really should have been a black belt a year ago.
Ya, we get a new uniform, but it's not cheap! The HKD students wear black uniforms with gold lettering on the back as color belts. When students test for black belt and pass, they get a white uniform with a black stripe along the legs and sleeves, and a black belt. It looks really sharp.
The Tae Kwon Do students wear white uniforms as both color and black belts.
Oh my word, I can't imagine the stress of testing. Jeff a 3rd degree black belt, said the test takes about an hour and all instructions are given in Korean. I had better get to the dojo earlier this year and WORK.
anyway, good luck with yours. Maybe you can post a photo when you pass. Oh, how does testing work in Karate? Is it set aside just for black belt or do color belts attend and test as well?
Lor
We actually have to test many times.
