Am I nuts or do these folders keep moving around???

My stupid scale at home is the kind with the needle or whatever. My weight fluxuates 5 lbs. on a daily basis. It's making me nuts.

Is a digital scale better? Or a certain brand? I feel like I can't say I've lost weight if I weight 5 more lbs. by the time I go to bed. GRrrrrr

I have no idea where the thread went. Guess when they get so old they get bumped .

I got a new scale . It is a Healt-o -meter one and it seems to work good. It shows the body fat percentage too. Last year I got one of the cheapest digital ones and it stopped working after 6 months. So this year I went with a name brand and something a bit more expensive. We will see how long this one lasts.

I have a needle scale also and it's crap, too. It doesn't seem to be accurate at all. I'll weigh myself before I go to the doctor and the doctor's scale will be 8 pounds higher. I'll start adding 8 pounds to my weigh-ins at home and the next time I go back to the doctor it will be totally different. Maybe it's time for a new one. If I belonged to a gym, I would just throw mine out and not bother buying a new one.

I bought the tanita basic % of body fat scale I believe it was 35 dollars on drugstore.com the only reason I say this is they have really sophisticated tanita scales that store everyone in the families info etc. Mine doesn't store anything, you just enter your info if you want to do the % of body fat part, or just step on it for the regular scale. I wanted to see how accurate it was, so before I left for the doctors one day I weighed myself clothes and all on it, went to the doctors and it was completely accurate with their doctors scale. Pretty impressed.

Hello.. don't want to butt in here but.. are you weighing yourself every day?
Don't be discouraged if your weight fluctuates day by day. Shifts in water weight, constipation, and even the food you just ate can cause the daily changes reflected on the scale. To avoid confusion and disappointment, weigh yourself only once a week. Let how much healthier you feel and how your clothes are fitting be your "scale."
You may also notice that you weigh more immediately after a meal. This is due to the actual weight of the food and not to any fat weight you've gained. Remember that it takes time for your body to digest food, and it can take a couple of days for weight loss or weight gain to register on the scale.

I'll throw in my two cents too. I don't like scales, but like the majority of people weigh myself to see how things are going, however.......I do better when I'm not focussed on the pounds themselves and just how I'm feeling; how the clothes are fitting; what people are saying; how I'm sleeping and of course how I'm looking.

Also---- try to reduce the amount of times you weigh yourself....once a week (same time, same day, same clothes on, etc....) is going to be much more reliable than four times a day ;-)

I was only weighing twice a day not four. =o) I agree I need to do same time of day once a week or whatever. Hopefully would be more realistic. However, if I can blame the scale I don't have to face reality do I??? lol

Okay, I'll put my two cents in here.
