In my case I don't really know if it is motivation that I'm getting as much as just the reassurance of knowing that I am not alone. My husband & I are both changing our eating habits and getting nore active. But lets face facts, he's not a chick, ya'll are. Its' nice to read about what everyone is doing. I can identify w/ you girls when it comes to the struggle of weight loss. He has the fortunate blessing of being a man. No saddlebags, no extra juicy behind. BTW, I am finally getting into the gym habit. I'm tired tonite but I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow. Get this, the guys running the fitness/wellness center said they hoped to have 800 members by 1/31. They have over 1500!! and they just opened last Monday! Pretty cool huh?

What do you think is most motivating about being part of a message board?

To see what works for others. I orderd the 8 MITM book and will give that a try . Also to see that others struggle just as much as I do helps me a little. And to see how they make it through the though parts.

Do you work harder at reaching your goals, about the same or less than if you weren't coming to the board?

Beeing accountable helps me a little during the day. The thought of having to write down what I ate during the day keeps me from pigging out - sometimes. LOL

And has coming here helped you with motivation at all, or with making changes to what you do?

Yes, it does. When I post I go to the gym I feel like I need to go so I can report about it later. By the way I have to make it to the step class tonight. Just so you all know about it !!!

What do you think is most motivating about being part of a message board?
Being involved with people who are working toward the same goal, in different ways, but all are working toward overall good health and fitness.

Do you work harder at reaching your goals, about the same or less than if you weren't coming to the board?
About the same.

And has coming here helped you with motivation at all, or with making changes to what you do?
As someone else said, it's nice to know we're not alone. I have learned a lot from other posters-gotten some good ideas and understand a little more about the body and how it works.

Eventhough intelectually I know that I'm not alone, it makes a big difference for me to hear from "real" people that are going through the same things. What a relief "knowing" I'm not alone! You just want to hear someone say "I know how you feel".

I think I work a bit harder because of the board. I know that no one is going to beat me up if I skip a workout, but it does put an edge on my life knowing that someone could read what I've written. For me, journaling has given me an outlet to vent and celebrate which keeps me sane!

Not really. I haven't found much of what I'd call motivation, although I do enjoy reading praises for my success steps. I haven't changed my routine but I love reading about what other's do and ideas they share.
