I'm at an all time high for my weight (5'4" and 181#), I just turned 30 and am not at all happy with my body. I tried Meridia and only lost 4 pounds in 5 months and had sky-high blood pressure. I have decided that this year I would do some form of exercise 5-6 days a week (walking, aerobics at home, pilates, etc.). I've been doing this since the last week in December and have been so discouraged! I have only lost 3# and that is because I've been sick the past few days. Exercise just makes me gain weight in the beginning, and I stall out with no weight loss. I understand if I keep with it I eventually have to lose weight. We're planning a cruise for our 10 year anniversary next January and I want to weigh 135#, and would like to get there with a healthy lifestyle rather than cheating with diet pills. I know I will have to exercise the rest of my life and I'm adjusting to that. I love to snack and will grab chips, cookies, candy if I don't eat regular meals. I'm a nurse, so I understand how it all works, I just can't get it done!!! I've tried Weight Watchers online and don't get too far there, either, but it works when I follow it. HELP!!! Thank you :O)

Welcome Nurse Cami ;-)

Congratulations on getting here- finding a wonderful support system!! Yep.....you're right this is a journey of a lifetime- and it can most definitely be enjoyable. Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary coming up- what a great way to celebrate it, on a cruise. Friends of mine are getting married on one in December!

As Steffy pointed out 46lbs in 11 months is do-able. You just have to keep reminding yourself of how terrific you'll feel sitting on that boat enjoying some sunshine and a great DH! Plus, the other benefits that you'll see and feel!

Have you altered your diet at all? Do you journal? (We have a journal section on the board, that is quite popular and is full of wonderful support and advice, daily!)

Good Luck, and looking forward to posting with you

Hey Cami, thanks for joining us. We're all here for each other, so don't ever feel like you're alone in this. I would like to make a few suggestions. There's a book that is written specifically for people wanting to loose more than 30 pounds called "8 Minutes in the Morning, Real Shapes Real Sizes" by Jorge Cruise. Check it out from the library and just read it first to see if you think this would be good for you. If you like it, I strongly encourage you to purchse the book because you'll need it for the motivation, eating and exercising help. There's even pictures and directions of how to do the exercises. I'm using the original book and the one for the belly and just love them!
Also, get rid of the junk food. You can't eat something that isn't there. Don't even walk down the treat isle at the store. On Jorge's plan, you can have 1 or 2 small treats a day to keep from feeling deprived. Since I like to have my treat at work, I bag only my portion allowed instead of bringing the whole bag or box so I don't overdo it. This has worked wonders for me. Individual size bags of chips, cookies, etc.
Jorge asks several questions to help you think. Why do you eat when you're not hungry? Look deep within and discover the real reason for your habits. What's driving it, what are the triggers? Write down your eating for one week with these questions. When, why and where and how were you feeling when you ate. What was emotional state? What were you doing at the time, arguing with family, watching tv?
I could go on, I'm long winded that way, but please just read the book and see if you can identify and find help there. I'll be here when you need help or have questions. Okay?, Okay! Ginger

Hi Cami. I'm 30, and like you, I'm coming up on my 10th anniversary. :) No cruise planned! I wish though! I just wanted to welcome you. It sounds like we are all in the same boat here. :)
