Need advice on weight changes and scale!

How is it that I can weight myself a hour ago and the scale reads 151.5 and now it reads 152.5? I drank a cup of tea. I don't think the tea weighed a lb.! I have a digital scale, but I think it is either defective or just not sensitive enough. I sometimes have to weigh myself a few times because it fluctuates so much. Can anyone tell me if I really could have gained a lb. in the past an hour and also recommend a GOOD scale? Thank you!!

My advice--- STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE

They really can begin to dictate out lives if we're not careful ;-)
Don't let them!

Be strong- pick one day, one time, once a week and use that as your gauge-- two/three/four times a day won't be accurate. I had a friend of mine who told her husband to hide the dang thing for a month. She made great strides that month!

You are right and I do have a bad habit of weighing myself every single day. I just don't understand why the scale fluctuates so much in an hour. I guess the scale stinks. I ordered a new one today. I guess I really shouldn't be worrying so much about it. Maybe eventually I'll get to where I can do it once a week. I know that would much much healthier. I'll aim for that. Thank you.

You know, scales can be sensitive, I think because of the way they work, there are bound to be fluctuations.

Standing in different spots on the scale can affect it, as can being bumped and jostled to upset the balance.

BUT IG is right.

Body weight does fluctuate due to water, bathroom duties (pooping) etc. Why are you weighing every hour?

I would advise if you need to weigh daily to do it once, in the morning. Weigh yourself three times, and take the average. So if you weigh 151.5, then 152.0 and then again 151.5 then most likely your weight is 151.5 and take that as your weight for the day and don't weigh again the rest of the day. If you weigh yourself naked first thing in the morning, but weigh again at night with all your clothes on and food and water in your tummy of course you are going to weigh different.

I'd also start getting the tape measure out and do that as well once a week. If you are working out regularly your body will change but you may not see a change on the scale or worse a gain on the scale.
