I'd love to hear about how long everyone has been trying to lose weight, how much they have lost so far, and how close to their goal weights, if anyone would like to share. I began this diet/lifestyle change 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have lost 9 pounds so far. I have 29 to go. :)

No problem Kim. I actually just wrote to our newest poster (Amber) that I'd do a poll to see how much most of us here have to lose....

But this is a perfect thread to go alongside it.

I've been on and off dieting since about August 2002.

Highest weight 165lbs - Currently at 148lbs - Goal is 130lbs
(I'm 5'3")

...so a few more to go!!

In June 2003 I was bridesmaid at my best friends wedding and lost most of my weight before it. I made it to 138lbs....but alas from not staying on the wagon consistently am back up now.

I'm 34, three children, work full time, 5'7", 135lbs. My normal weight is 125 but when we moved back to TX 1 1/2 years ago, i gained 10 pounds because of all the stresses. My weight in October was down to 131. I was so much happier then! During the holidays I reached my top weight of 137 1/2. I felt like someone had blown me up or stuffed me. I started consistently exercising with diet in January and have fluctuated between 134 to 136. I weighed Monday morning and Tuesday and was 136 1/2. Then Wednesday I weighed 135. How do you loose 1 1/2 pounds in less than 24 hours? I usually just weigh on Monday mornings when I get to work since we have a heavy duty scale for packages. My goal has been and always will be 125. I think this is my healthiest weight and when I feel my best.

Well, when I started posting here in April-ish, I was 180. I am down to 140 with about 15 or so to go.
i have been doing fitday and exercising everyday but one "free day" that I designate either to fluff on exercise or ONE meal (and maybe a snack or ChOcOlAtE!!). I alternate cardio and lifting, although on my lifting days I am teaching a step class also. My body has long adapted to step, so I don't really count that except in my total cardio minutes each month.

WOW Michelle. That's great success. I love that you're showing all of us that if we stick to it, the weight will come off. THAT'S perseverance!

I've been consciously trying to eat healthier since June of '04. I started going to the gym also at that time. I'm there 3-4 times a week doing cardio and weights. I didn't lose much weight but I lost some fat and gained muscle tone. Two weeks ago this Monday I started South Beach with hubby. He's in need of losing a lot so I thought we could do this together that way it would be easier to change our lifestyle. Since then I've lost about 10 pounds. I still have an "official" weigh in on Sunday so I'm not positive on the numbers.
I started at 154 and I'm down to 144 as of today.
I'm 5'8" and want to get down to 125-130.

Wow. I'm a lot bigger than all of you and my goal weight is a lot higher. I wonder if I should rethink this...

I am 37 years old. I am a single mom of a 14 year old boy.
