Using competition as a motivator

Well, I am absolutely determined to lose weight and get in shape this year. Believe it or not the idea of rewards have not worked (my husband has been promising me a new wardrobe when I reach my goal weight for a couple of years). So now I am trying my hatred of losing (and some name recognition with big shots at work). My company is having a company wide challenge for increasing our exercise. You log your weekly exercise minutes as a team and the team with the most minutes per average wins. My team has some "higher ups" on it and it would not hurt for them to have positive feelings toward me. So, by logging more weekly exercise minutes I am not only getting in better shape but may be helping my career. Also, my husband and I are now doing our own version of the TV show The Biggest Loser - we have weekly prizes for whoever loses the highest % of weight to goal and the one at the end with the highest % plus change in measurements wins $1200.00. My husband must already know what he wants because he set the amount. So hopefully hating to lose will be my key to really winning (getting healthier).

Well, I think competition is a great motivator for some!!

Welcome to the board, freedomday and it's so nice to see such a positive attitude towards losing some weight.
