Wow! I've been checking out this message board over the past few days and totally get in a positive mood about keeping to my goals from all the great comments and tips. I have renewed my determination to lose the last 20 lbs from having my second child in November, 2003 (sounds like a long time ago now!!). I'm a WW devotee, and have had success with the Firm, so I'm back to the tapes. They are hard! I don't think I'll ever get beyond the three pound weights, but I'll keep plugging away.

My biggest problem with maintaining my weight loss is that I just lose my motivation and don't even know why. I'll be doing great with the exercising and eating, not even wanting to eat cookies, crackers, etc. Then I'll just fall off the wagon and eat lots of foods that are high calorie and then quit exercising cause I'm so full! I'm hoping your comments and tips will help me stay focused. I really want to lose these extra pounds, get to a size 8-10, be healthy and be able to wear more stylish clothes. Right now I feel great about the whole process and I look forward to seeing others posts and helping encourage you as you do the same for me!

Congratulations! It sounds like me - where one minute, you're as inspired as you were from day one, but then, you just see those chocolate chip cookies and the next

Hi Catherine, I am glad you are joining the board. I can't wait to hear of your progress. :) I have about 30 to go. I pretty much only had a problem with weight right before i got pregnant with my third baby...who is now 18 months old. I only just started trying to lose the weight three weeks ago...almost 4 now. I have heard the Firm is tough! I'm such a weakling that I would pass out trying to do one of those! lol

Hi, Kim,

Keep up the good work! The Firm is tough, but when I was really into it before Christmas I lost about 15 pounds (and haven't gained it back) and really saw a difference in toning in my legs and arms. I'm going to journal my progress in the journal page to try to give me some motivation and accountability!

Thanks, Janae,

It is truly amazing how will power can come and go. One day (or minute) really strong, the next completely gone. I think I'll try a new strategy. When I have a lot of things in the house to clean up, I set the kitchen timer for 15 minutes and just do as much as I can and quit when the timer goes off. It's amazing how much I can get done and for some reason knowing it's short-lived gives me the motivaiton to do it. I'm going to try to set the timer for 10 or 15 minutes when I feel like wolfing down those cookies and see if it passes. I'll be charting my progress in the journal page, so I'll let you know if this works at all.

p.s. - adorable baby! I have a 7 year old boy and 14 month old girl - they really steal your heart!

Catherine, it sounds like you might be a "flybaby" with your timer. :)If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I guess you aren't, lol. It's basically www.flylady.com principles. I do a little of what they suggest...but you might have no idea what I'm talking about, so I won't go on about it any further! lol. About exercising, I did buy a beginners pilates workout. I did it twice and I couldn't make it through it either time, so I decided to walk my way to getting some stamina first. I'm up to walking 45 minutes now...but it's tough. That sounds pitiful, doesn't it??? Oh well. lol. I'll be looking for your journal!

Thanks Catherine!

The timer idea sounds like a good idea - I think I have seen those types of ideas on the flylady website Kim suggests - just reading that website makes me tired!!!

I think I might purchase one of those tapes/DVDs you and/or Kim had mentioned, but I'll have to partition off the living room from our dogs. :)
