I mentioned in an early post my husband and I are competing on weight loss. Sunday was the end of our first week. Which I thought I did very well. I worked out for 3 hours during the week, drank 100 oz. of water per day and kept an eye on my eating. I only lost 1 lb. Still, my husband did not work out once, ate 1 1/2 lbs of M & M's and his "diet" plan was skipping lunch one day and increasing his water. I really figured I had him - he lost 3 1/2 lbs!!! How completely unfair is that!! I was feeling really discouraged but I refuse to let this get the better of me. It just means I have to work 10 times harder this week. Instead of just keeping an eye on what I eat I am actually going to have to really pay attention to my food intake. I have done the Weight Watcher point system before so figure I need to revert back to counting my points.
Still, I added some leverage in my favor - I made cupcakes yesterday - my husband's downfall. He ate five in three hours. I had one small one. If I lose this week I am going out to buy a cheesecake, Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream (gallon size) and eating it in one sitting while watching every male bashing movie I can find!!

The first thing that came to mind while reading that is the story "the turtle and the hare". It looks like the hare (hubby) has the advantage, but slow and steady is going to win the race. :)I know how you feel though. My husband gets to eat a 1000 more calories a day than me to lose the same amount of weight a week! It's times like that that I like to think of all the benefits of being a female, over a male.....like......hmmmm....it's not AF....it's not hormones.....it's not giving birth....ok....how about longer life expectancy??? lol

Lisa,
Don't give up!!!!!!! I made a bet with a guy I used to work with that who ever lost 15 lbs first would win. (I forget what the prize was). We gave ourselves 2 months to do it.
We started on a Friday and on Monday, we weighed in at work (he brought in a scale). I didn't lose anything while he lost 8 lbs!!!!!!! He was already halfway there and we'd only made the bet 3 days before!
After that, he started losing much slower. I wound up winning after all.
Even if DH wins, why sabotage the work you've done? Finish the challenge anyway and you will have won because you'll be lean and mean!

Don't go just by weight.
One possible reason that you didn't lose as much weight is because muscle weighs more than fat - and you have been developing muscle this week.
You actually have an advantage over him since he isn't working out. Your metabolism is getting a boost, and pretty soon you will probably start seeing the results you want.
BTW - my "ideal" weight is supposed to be 126-139 Lbs, but at 155 lbs and a size 6, I really don't think I have much to worry about. When I went to renew my driver's license, the guy behind the counter refused to change my weight (which I hadn't updated in years) because he said I looked like I was 125 lbs - not 155.
That wasn't said to rub anything in - just to make a point that the scale is not always the best measure of your progress. If I were to get down to the "recommended" range, I would actually be too thin.
