I have not looked at the Aquafina water but I did some checking on Propel and Fruit2O because I really like them and they both contain sucralose - the brand name is Splenda. I have done some research on sucralose and it is manufactured by replacing 2 of the normally occuring atoms with chlorinated atoms - it basically gives you the same chemical make up of the pesticide DDT. there have only been 40 studies testing the effects of sucralose, none long-term. But, initial testing has shown it do decrease the size of the thymus gland 40% on animals - that is huge - shows problems with the livers and kidneys along with some other side effects. My mother had cancer when I was younger and the first thing the oncologist told her was never to use artificial sweetners. Now, that was back in the day of saccharin but most doctors will still tell you to limit your intake.

The way I get my water down (and I drink about 100 oz. a day) is to pour my water and then add a little bit of juice (usually lite cranberry, although I have heard white grape is excellent). This gives the water a really good flavor, I am also getting in my cranberry juice (very good for women) and there is hardly any calories using the lite, maybe 10 or 15, in a 32 oz. glass of water.

I'm very sensitive to how water tastes and I can only drink Poland Spring at room temp. It's tastes clear with no flavor. Although my preferred bev is Coca-Cola, I have to cut it out completely because even though it tastes great and makes food taste better, it makes me feel like carp.

I thought Splenda was essentially sugar alcohols??

I do know that these Aquafina FruitSplash drinks have some splenda.

Fruit2o contains calories, as does Propel - maybe there is something extra going on there?

If artificial sweetners, like Sweet N Low are bad for me, I'm already doomed.

The Propel has calories - I am not sure why, probably because it is suppose to be an energy drink with added vitamins, the Fruit2o, at least the ones I have seen, have 0 calories. I know other artificial sweetners have had multiple studies - aspartame - has had 774 studies on possible side effects compared to the 40 of sucralose. Sucralose was only discovered in 1976 and was not commercialized until 1980. It was approved for use in Canada in 1991, the first country to approve it's use. The biggest concern is the lack of any long term data which other artifical sweetners have. It gets very technical with all the scientific names and chemical breakdowns but there seems to be a concern regarding the possible toxic build-up of the substance. I don't know if small doses would be an issue but we are much more likely to drink 64 oz. of water (trying to lose weight) than we are to dring that much pop in a day. A holistic website says the conclusion they have is that from it's chemical structure that years or decades of use may contribute to serious chronic immunological or neurological disorders. Just information you should be aware of. I did not even know what sucralose was but when I saw it on the label on wanted to check it out because my little girl loves the propel water. Now I won't let her have any of it.

I try to avoid artificial sweetners too, especially Nutrasweet, enantomer of Formaldehyde. I like fizzy water, so I drink Pellingrino with a slice of lime or lemon. I also drink herbal iced tea with no sweetener. If it has a lot of flavor, it doesn't have to be sweet.
