Hello everyone, I posted about awhile ago about my walking for a month and not losing any weight and the replies really made me feel better. I have another question. When some of you started, did you feel old and sore all the time? Does that go away? When I go to the track - I see youngsters running around several times and not seeming to even get winded. If I run just one minute I feel like I cant breath. lol Is it possible to get back to the point of when I was 21 and could run 3 miles at 6.0? I feel so old and tired.

If you go to some of the running magazine's web sites they have programs to get you back in the swing of things. Run 1 min, walk 2, for two weeks, then run 2 walk 1 etc. I think I have more energy now than I did in my teens. I LOVE to workout and get that high. That rush.
You have a negative mindset right now and we need to change that. I responded to your last post, too. You can do anything you set your mind to. You need to reprogram it for SUCCESS!! There is No reason, at all, why you can't be sexy and feel sexy. Change your internal dialogue and the sky's the limit!!
Take baby steps and keep a training journal. Keep a food journal as well, anally logging EVERYthing you put in your mouth (from gum to breath mints) and look at it in a week and see what changes you need to make. Make those changes and then in a weeks time (or month's) reevaluate things and make the changes needed.
You can and will do it....you should've seen me a year ago! I am doing it!

I am 31 years old and was starting to feel 51. I had to roll out of bed and needed the hot shower to be able to stand up straight. After just one and a half weeks of working out everyday - including stretching for at least 5 minutes every night I am already doing much better. I am not a runner but I started walking up the 9 flights of stairs to my office. I am now getting up 60 steps before I start to feel winded - it was only in the 40's the first day. And I am starting to notice I have more energy - even though I am getting 20-30 minutes less sleep so I can get up and exercise in the morning. I think it will take a little longer being in our 30's (in your 20's you think about dropping 10 lbs and it is done) and I don't know if you will get to where you were at 21 years old but I am positive you can get to where you don't feel old and are happy with your body.

You'll get there-- not overnight, but with some perseverence and taking it slow and steady you will get there. Don't take any notice of those youngsters around you....think positive- you're there, and you're going to to it. I agree you need to be more optimistic rather than pessimistic. Doing this works wonders for the soul.
