Things have been busy around here in my absence....for those of you who are *new*-
WELCOME TO THE BEST BOARD :-)
It's great to see so many new faces grinning at me going through all the posts I've missed. Rather than bumping up posts to each of you here's a BIG HI to each of you here!! You'll find this a great place to hang out, get advice, moan and groan, find support and have some fun too. The ladies here are great!
My name is Mandy, affectionately known as IG (IslandGirl) around these parts. I've been here since August '02 and became a CL in Jan '03 (seems like forever ago)- it's been a great journey so far. I'm on and off the wagon so frequently lately I'm beginning to lose faith--- BUT when this happens I come here and get motivation to keep going. Or at least am guilted into putting that tape in the VCR and getting my butt in gear!
The reason I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks is because my phone line was whacky- actually for the past 5 days I had no dial tone at all. Luckily I took myself into the 21st century last month and got my first cell phone, lol! So I wasn't completely out of touch. I live in the Virgin Islands and everything works a little slower down here (island-time), including the phone company. So I was told to expect someone out on or before the 23rd......I guess they stuck to their word and someone came out yesterday and fixed whatever the problem was. Phew!
So I'm back :-)
The wagon ride for me over the past week or so has been a bumpy one- one day wonderful the next not so great, and so on. I really missed the support and motivation I get here.
I've been doing fairly ok with eating, and just about hanging in with workouts. I've managed 2 walks this week and an afternoon of washing the car, inside and out. I've been fighting off a head cold for the past 2 days which isn't helping much at all.
Other stuff that's been going on-
THE CAR
On Valentine's day I was pulling into my local grocery store and there was a delivery truck backing out of the lot. I pulled over to the side to wait for him to pass me. The fool was honking his horn so loudly that I guess he didn't hear the little 'beep-beep' coming from my little car......low and behold the next thing I knew was he hit the back of my car--- and then when he'd realized what he'd done and saw that his truck was actually 'sitting' on my tail light backed up again and made it worse! Dumba$$
Went to the police station made reports and so I'm now in the midst of getting estimates and retrieving the police report (apparently it takes a long time for it to make it from one end of the island to the other-- more "island-time" stuff!!)
THE TOY BOY
We didn't go away. I found out a couple of days beforehand that he's seeing someone....men! However when I asked him about it he told me that he was, but because of the fact that she lives in Guatemala the relationship is a little tricky to keep alive. Understood! So who knows- there's still some flirting going on, but nothing has *happened* as yet. I'm thinking maybe dinner this weekend, though it will have to be tomorrow night, as I have plans on both Saturday and Sunday, already!
No rest for the wicked ;-)
THE BUNNY
Men are just weird. Here I have the most wonderful man as a best friend, who yes I will admit to having other feelings for- and he knows it. But I don't let it affect the friendship-- I'd rather have what we have right now for a long time than a brief affair and lose him. Ya' know? Well the thing is I think he may be jealous of the above mentioned toy boy (I hate that expression so we'll just call him Johnny from here on...). He hasn't said he's jealous, but is acting so weird lately that I'm finding it even awkward to just talk to him. We've plans to celebrate a friends birthday on Saturday and I think I'm just going to have to pull him aside at one point and ask him what's going on. It's driving me nuts. I miss him!
OK....well I think that about covers it- and I've just caught up on the 'main discussion' folder. I'll see what's going on in other parts of the board later (or tomorrow)....
Once again, it's good to be back-

Welcome back. Sooooo sorry to hear about your car. It's too bad that a "professional" driver backed into you.
Since I came to this board last October, I wasn't quite clear on Bunny. Interesting, I know what you mean about not wanting to ruin the friendship for a fling, BUT you could be on to something really good there. It seems to be working really well for DBF and I.
He actually slipped in the other night that a marriage proposal may be coming, which surprised me. He said I was dense.
I hope you get your car fixed without much difficulty.
Lorie
I agree Lorie-- there could quite possibly be something to Bunny and I, but I have to let it come from him. I know how I feel about being with someone......he doesn't! (Too many heart breaks along his path!!)
Hopefully the car won't cause much of a hassle, luckily it is still driveable.
And keep us updated on that proposal................

I'm so glad to have you back!!!
About that proposal, I think it will be a while still. We're both looking for new jobs. I'm not sure where life will take us yet.
I was so surprised to hear that from him. I love him, and he loves me. But I wondered if he would want to remarry after his divorce.
I will keep you posted though.
