Serving size of a chicken breast ?
| Thu, 02-24-2005 - 4:18pm |
I made stuffed chicken breast today for lunch and I am not sure how to count this thing. The whole chicken breast is the size of my hand and I could not finish it so I am thinking this may have been multiple serving sizes . :O(
Anyone know how I should count this ?

Martina- I think a serving size of a chicken breast would be about 3-4oz (probably about three quarters of a chicken breast).
Here are a couple of 'serving size' links:

I know this is to late to help much. LOL but....
A serving size of any meat is the size of a deck of playing cards. SO depending on the size of the chickent breast that would be half to 3/4. Pasta/Veggies and pretty much anything else a serving size as a general rule of thumb fits in the palm of your hand. If your hands are small then that is your personal serving size. Remember even if you are active your body can only process about 300 calories in ~3 hours so if you eat 500 calories even if you go and work out your body will still be converting about 200 calories into fat. I'm struggling to learn this one myself right now, it has come up recently in my personal training cerf course. Blows the mind... actually that is why you should eat 5-6 mini meals and you should eat with what you will be doing for the next 3 hours in mind. If you are going to work out maybe go 300 calories before and then 100 or 200 calorie snack when you get back with protein (if you worked out longer then 45 minutes) for muscle recovery. If you are going to be home watching TV for the next three hours then eat something in the 100-200 range.

Sabrina, that makes perfect sense.
