If so, can you tell me what to look for in a good snowshoe? It's supposed to work off loads of calories.

Thanks!

Oops.....can't answer this at all. Don't get much snow here in the tropics, actually I don't even know what snowshoeing is-

However did a search and found this- (and it looks like an interesting hobby to begin....)

No help here. Even though I am in Montana we have had hardly any snow this year. Sounds like fun though.

I have never even thought of taking it up, but they have some pretty cool snowshoes out there:

Have you tried snowshoeing? I suggest going out a renting a pair just to make sure you like it and maybe take a lesson. The instructor should be able to recommend what to look for in a pair.

I went two years ago thinking it would be easy. It was hard work, especially if you break trail. I was sore in placed I didn't even know I had muscles. Inner thighs especially. It is a great workout and a nice way to enjoy winter scenery. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the websites.

Thanks for the rental tip. That's a good idea. There's a ski area down the road from me with a rental place. I'll try it out!
