Hello all...
Boy have I missed you. :o) I'm doing well. The playground committee finally took the ideas to the mass populace with a Town meeting about a week ago, and ofcourse I had to not only design the powerpoint for the blasted thing but also speak about equipment choices. That following January's record breaking publishing numbers... I'm director of the Publishing company at the elementary school and the family night in Jan we did 102 books. We also published 115 books the normal way and this Month the kids published 90 books. EGADS I'm so proud of the little buggers but that means all my spare time is spent typing books and putting them together. WHEW! Not to mention Triathlon training started in earnest 3 weeks ago. That is going well... I've been able to stay on task for the most part with minor juggling. I can't wait for the warmer weather though because I'm getting tired of biking on the trainer. ALTHOUGH...I've since hooked up the boys Gamecube to the TV in the bike room and have been playing Harvest Moon while I bike for 2 hours or so.
I'm sorry I haven't been around much to offer you all encouragement but I've spent some time this am trying to catch up a bit and I must say you are all doing Fantastic. O and Miranda... Don't feel quilty my secret sin is the Cadbury carmel eggs. THANK gosh the finally made the tiny version so I can buy a pack of them and eat one or two a day and satisfy the urge without really doing any damage. Do they sell the cream ones that way too???
SO Fill me in How are you all? and Any New people I haven't met or welcomed. HEllO and welcome to a great board. I look forward to learning all about you.

Hey Sabrina!
Hey Miranda...
I love the harvest moon games. I am a total addict. LOL. So in order to play the game I force myself to ride the bike while I'm doing it. Kills two birds with one stone. In what issue did SHAPE cover Tris??? I think that is pretty cool. Right now I'm hunting for a new vehicle and it's a hoot to ask the salesmen how a bike rack would fit on it. They all look at me soooo strange.

Hi Sabrina,
I love hearing about people doing extraordinary things like Triathalons, Marathons, etc. How do you train with 5 kids and a job outside of the home?
You must make use of every minute of the day. How much sleep do you get? My biggest excuse for not doing more than 20 exercise is making sure I get enough sleep. For some reason, I'm afraid my body will fall apart if I don't get enough sleep.
I'm sort of new here. I came on months ago another a different name and had a "leave of absence" (aka joined Weight Watchers).
Thanks,
Shannon
Hi Shannon...
Well I'm far from exciting and I don't think anything I do is extraordinary but here ya go
I average about 8 hours of sleep a night.
Heres a typical training day...
I get up by 6:30 most every morning
6:30-7:00 I wake up and feed the boys, Make sure Korina is up and getting ready, Take out the puppy, start a load of laundry and get dressed.
7:00-7:30 I keep the boys moving towards school. LOL easier said then done
7:30-8:30 We leave and I drop Korina at the High School and The boys at the Elemntary school. I generally stick around until 8:30 binding books, making bookplates or certificates for the Author's Teas or tying up a loose end with the Playground Committee.
8:30-9:00 I'm back home I eat breakfast and veg for about 30 mins. Usually I end up getting a book or two typed and I clean up from breakfast.
9:00 I start Jesse on his homeschooling assignment.
9:30-10:30 I go the pool for my first workout/shower
10:30-11:30 I'm back home and check in with Jesse, Listen to him read and going over the words of the day and week that are causing him to struggle.
11:30-12:00 I eat lunch and take out the Dog.
12:00-1:00 Clean house and hang out with Hubby if he is home that week.(Unless this is a run day then I run during this block)
1:00-2:20 Back at the School In the PAWS room doing books.
2:20-3:00 Picking up the boys and then Korina from School
3:00-3:15 Snack time
4:00-5:30 Second Workout if it's a bike. (clean house if it was a run day and regardless be available for homework help)
5:30-6:30 Dinner Prep
6:30-7:00 Dinner time
7:00-7:30 Spend time with the Family before baths
7:30-8:30 get the boys bathed and do some more laundry with 7 people in this house trust me there is always laundry to be done.
8:30 boys to bed.
9:00 Tell the teenagers goodnight and I hide in my room w/hubbie.
10:30 Bedtime.
Whenever I have some spare time I jump online for a few minutes and I don't really watch TV, and I take time to play with the puppy and some other odds and ends that fit into the day but that's basically the way it looks. I guess it's all a matter of priorities and Scheduling. On the days I go Grocery shopping Mon-Thurs It's from 12-1:30 and then I go to the school. Everyone is very supportive of my training so If I miss a run while they are at school, I am able to run out the door after snack and make it up and juggle some. In fact it's all a juggling act. Once I week I usually have a meeting at 9:30 so I have to move things around but it's usually on Wed and thats a bike only day. I take Fridays as a workout free day. Sat's are my long run. Sundays are my long ride. and Monday I swim and bike. Tuesday I swim and Run. Wednesday I bike. Thurs I swim and Run. The key to my success??? A training plan. and a Day planner. I schedule everything as you see. I actually eat more then is shown there but my mini meals I usually eat while teaching jesse or cleaning.
I hope I didn't put you into information overload. LOL

Sabrina~ good to see you stopping by, and after reading your 'average' day I can understand why we may not see all that much of you! You are one of the busiest people I know-- makes my days look lame and lazy!!! Good luck with all you have going on right now, besides the 'normal' stuff!
I'm sure designing a playground is LOTS of fun. I know when it comes to the end of the year and I get to make my classroom (and often playground) orders I get all excited thinking of how much the children are going to enjoy what I choose!
Once again, good to see you ;-)

Wow.
>>>>>I'm sure designing a playground is LOTS of fun.
IG it is. :o) But there is so much to learn. There are a ton of rules and regulations to follow for safety and one of the biggest problems of our school is we are totally landlocked and our once spacious play space is now reduced to a pitiful 1/2 an acre after a huge new school extension with new kindergarten classrooms and a gym. We are trying to capture some of the unused/scrub space from the outer areas of the school but we are having some opposition from the neighbors. Finally, though we are able to start finalizing our new equipment choices. Now comes the fun part of finding people to pay for them. LOL. We are currently doing a fundraiser with the Children called Pennies for the Playground and in one week of just collecting change we have raised $3,000.

>>>>>Can I ask about Jesse being homeschooled? How old is he? I know I'm constantly looking at different programs/schools for matt and am curious as to why people pick home schooling opposed to other programs. Just nosy! ;-)
Ofcourse you can ask Miranda and you Aren't being nosy. ;o)
Jesse will be 18 at the end of next month. This is our 3rd and final year of homeschooling. We brought him home at the beginning of his 9th grade year because he was being pushed through a system that didn't care he couldn't read. Being Severly Dyslexic he fell through crack after crack until he was almost lost. It has been both the hardest and the best decision we have ever made. There are many days I want to strangle him and even more where I have come up to my room and cried because they have been overwhelming. However, today he is able to read and write literately. He can fill out an application and get a job. He passed the Written test for his permit and now has a liscense. All things he could not do 3 years ago. Next year we will be sending him to the community Technical school to take their GED program and then after passing the GED he wants to be enrolled in their college prep classes and hopefully in a few years tranfer to a 4 year university. If you have any questions fell free to ask.

WoW Sabrina, that is some fundraising in ONE week.....wanna come here and do some PR for our school?? Seriously- it's really great to see such support from the parents (and community) in, and around your school. Very rewarding for all your efforts!

IG...It really is. Having this kind of support makes all the volunteer work I do for the school so worth it. This year I'm On the PTA board so I'm getting an even more eye opening look at what Our "parent's" do here. We raise and donate something like $25,000- 35,000 a year to the school for programs like the PAWS Publishing center, Teacher Grants, Teacher Education, Teacher Supplies, Student School Supplies for those who may need it. Science, Music, Art and Writing enrichment Nights, New TV's in all the classrooms, Grants to other PTA's who may not have access to the funds we do and so much more. I'm very proud to be a small cog in the overall good that our school and PTA does.
