Hi everyone!
I am new to this board. I actually haven't been on any of the boards in months - since I had my third baby last May. 3 kids keep me running! I apologize if this is a redundant discussion, but Oprah's boot camp program really struck home with me and I am ready to step it up and really work at those last 10 pounds I want to lose.
I know that for me the intensity of my workouts are directly related to the music I am listening to. SO - my question is, what are some of your favorite songs to workout to?
Here are some of my favorites:
Let's get it started - Black Eyed Peas
I Wanna Be Sedated - The Ramones
Keep em Separated - Offspring
Dude Looks Like a Lady - Aerosmith
ACDC - almost anything!
Thanks!
Dianna

Dianna-
I don't really have any music suggestions because that would require me to pay attention to music...It drives dh nuts because I just listen and enjoy, I can't tell you the titles or artists on many song.
I did however want to say hello, as I am fairly new here too and I am working on getting through The Body Makeover book which is as I understand is the Oprah's Bootcamp program. I am just about to get started on the 12 weeks (I have 1 more chapter to read!!) If you have any insight or suggestions I would love to hear them. Have you started or are you getting ready?
Amy
Hi!
Honestly, I have seen more TV programs and read more articles on weight loss and fitness than I could ever remember, but for some reason Oprah's show really struck a nerve with me. I don't know if it was something in particular or if it was just me finally being ready to do something - but I literally started IMMEDIATELY. I just made a decision right then and there to do something more.
I don't have alot of weight to lose. I started out wanting to just lose the last 15 pounds that I gained when I had kids and shape up a little more. The few things I personally took away from the program that I wanted to implement immediately were these:
- water, water, water. Always knew this, but I decided that I would drink the 64 ounces every single day even if I had to gag it down. I fill up a container every morning now with 64 ounces of water and I make myself drink it before the end of the day. I can judge how I am doing every time I open the fridge - so I can see if I need to start guzzling. Also, I force myself to drink a full glass before I allow myself to eat one morsel of food.
- Not even one morsel of food passes my lips after 7:30 pm. This is a good one for 2 reasons. One, I know that my body will not burn off the food I eat this late in the day. Two, the only kind of food that I ever eat after 7:30 is junk - so I don't need it anyway.
- Step up the workouts. This is where I was a big big offender. I have always worked out, but I definately was slacking. I would go to the gym 3 -5 days a week for 1 hour (that is all I am allowed with the babysitting services because of my baby), but I found that I would do a "comfortable" workout. The show made me realize that if I was going to the effort of getting to the gym and actually working out, why should I not put the extra effort forth and make it worthwhile. So I have been pushing myself a little more now. I've increased the intensity on almost everything I do.
Now that I have gone on so long, I started this the day of her show, that was Valentine's Day and I have lost 4 and a half pounds! So I am hoping this will continue and I don't hit a rut - I want to stay inspired. How was the Total Body Makeover book? It was featured on the show but I wasn't sure if I would get much more out of it.
Thanks for the welcome!
Dianna
Hey Dianna!! Your music list looks suspiciously like mine!!
The Total Body Makeover book sounds just like what you described. I had looked into the Oprah site, but there was just too much to figure out with her site. I got the book with a very nice pedometer from HSN.
I had lost 40 pounds about 2 years ago, and then I had a car accident that broke my exercise routine/habit and it has been all up hill from there. I have tried to motivate myself for a year and half so I am hoping this will get me going...I just want to make sure that I am ready and understand exactly what I will need to do during the 12 weeks. I have done wel the last week or so in controling my portions...so at least I have one step in the right direction. What's so frustrating for me is that I know what I need to do...it's just getting off my rear and doing it.

Welcome Dianna!
Well I'm one of those 'non-musicers'! I have a tonne of videos to choose from (and usually go with Leslie Sansone walking tapes) so the need for music is not there. When I go to the park I don't usually bring music either, though occassionally I may bring my headset for the radio- but that's about it.
However wanted to say hello and welcome to the board. Good luck with your *new* program and congratualtions on your progress so far. I have to agree, two of those keys you mentioned are the *winning* blocks (water and the 7.30 rule). Keep up the good work, and looking forward to posting with you.

How funny, I was just thinking about updating my music selection on my mp3 player. Right now, I have......and this is what keeps me going..........
Linkin Park and music from the Rocky movies. =) Gotta love that Rocky music. lol.
Also, Linkin Park has some slower stuff that allows me to slow my pace down, otherwise, I tend to push too much with the beat of the music. Good for speed, bad for my body (cuz it's slow. lol).
