So we've looked at how much we spend, and whether we think it's all been worth it.

If you had asked this question two months ago it would have been a lot worse. I had a daily cappuccino habit. I was drinking the Venti size

Ummm... lets see.....

This really isn't fair ya know! Or is it?

I spent $8 on a walking pedometer, but we go through a brick of coffee a week. Plus sugar and creamer, plus the occasional junk food and sodas....

Hmmmm. Maybe the weight fluctuations aren't just hormonal after all!

I guess I can also safely (or should that be unsafely) say that I don't spend enough money on the right stuff. You know from my list above that I definitely spend more on unhealthy stuff than the healthy stuff.

Oh geez......

How many of you know how much you spend on coffee and snacks each week? Well I don't go 'out' for coffee, and probably spend about $10 on snacks that I shouldn't each week. BUT I spend much more than that on 'going out' for other things (....Coors Light comes to mind)...

Take the the amount of money you spend on coffee and snacks each week or month and figure out your yearly total. Um.....probably about $2000 a year on 'going out'. Living in the Caribbean can be pricey ;-)

Is you

***Shocking I know, but I don't spend anything on coffee, I don't drink coffee. Snacks, depends on the week, this week I have 33 cents to my name, so I can't buy a thing. Probably Friday when I get paid I'll go out for lunch but other than that, no snacks, my money is really way too budgeted out right now.

***15 dollars a month, 180 dollars for the year total.

Is you healthy spending off-setting your unhealthy spending??

***No

About one chai tea per week=$2.95
A bottle of juice for the office so I don't have to get a drink each day=$2.99
Maybe a bag of Kar's sweet & spicy mix or yogurt, apple, nut mix per month=$1.79
a bag of Granny Smith apples about once a month=$2.99
So that adds up to $22.58 if I get a big bottle of juice twice a month. (I'm glad we have a water cooler at work, it's free to us.)

So that adds up to $270.96. I guess that's not too bad.

If I were to say since 6 weeks ago, I'd say I've probably spent on average about 2 dollars a week on coffee (that includes our coffee at home for my husband, who drinks it every day, and I rarely do). I think in 6 weeks I have had 3 cafe mochas from starbucks. And as far as snacks...I snack at home, so I am just not sure how to measure that...in the past 6 weeks I mostly snack on fruit...it can be sort of expensive I guess...and I have three kids to feed snacks to also. ;)

Money for snacks - I am guilty of spending on coffee for sure. I try to bring from home but I have been lazy lately and have been buying cheap gross coffee from the little store next to where I work. Whatever I bring to work, coffee - lunch - water - yoga mat means carrying a heavier and more annoying load on the subway (living in the city really stinks sometimes). Not a very good excuse but wow - I seem to have lots of excuses

Anyway cheap coffee three to four times a week plus once a week cappuccino at starbucks - $10 per week. Snacks, probably $5 per week. And add lunch - ughh - I have been pretty good lately, packing healthy lunch and snacks from home but overall I would say at least $20 per week. I can't add it up - too sad.

My husband I started focusing on packing lunch more and making sure to make dinners a few times a week and wow, we were able to save lots of money in just a few weeks. We are saving to buy a house at the end of the summer - we have made progress but now I see we can make much more progress. AND - when we bring from home and make dinners - we are MUCH MORE HEALTHY!
