So we've looked at how much we spend, and whether we think it's all been worth it.

I think this is a great question to pose to everyone and not a nosey question. It gets you thinking about how you spend your money. Most people think it's okay to spend $5 on coffee every morning but $80 a month to join a gym is out of the question! That was us. We spent a lot on fast food, coffee, and goodies at the store not really paying attention to how it all added up. We even bought a lot of pre-made dinner items which are expensive. Not only was the food high in sodium and fat it wasn't all that fresh tasting, you didn't get a lot of food for the money you spent---it was expensive. I started cooking more healthfully last fall and we saw our food bill go down as well as the food tasting better and lasting longer. Buying bulk items that could be divided up and used over a longer time span saved us money big time. It's more time consuming but that is a small price to pay for all benefits. With the money we saved we were able to join a gym, buy some home gym items, and buy a bigger sturdier outdoor playset for the kids. I am hoping this will encourage them to play outdoors and they will avoid the health problems and obesity epidemic of todays kids.
