Hi all,
My name is Diane and I'm new here. I am morbidly obese and waiting for insurance for Gastric Bypass surgery. However, I am still trying to do this on my own. I came here after finding this website in a Jorge Cruise book I bought "8 Minutes in the Morning".
I have about 190 lbs to lose, I don't know where and how to begin. I know I am so frustrated and depressed because I am like I am. I recently gained 70 lbs after being put on some meds. I quit taking them and now I can't get it off. So If anyone has any ideas, please help. I'm tired of doing this alone.
Thanks For Listening,
Diane

Hi Diane, and welcome to the 30's board! My first suggestion is to talk to your doctor to see what they have to say about starting off a weight loss program, they should be able to give you some healthy starting off points. Then I'd suggest 'baby steps'. I know there are a few here who do 8 mins in the morning, and I'm sure they will be around later to help you out with any questions you have on that.

Diane, I agree with IslandGirl about talking to your doctor. I wanted to say hello though, and encourage you to keep taking steps to become healthier. You are worth taking care of. You can do this. I hope you will post here. I would like to get to know you better and see your progress!

Welcome to this great board. As the others have said, talking to your doctor would be a good place to begin, perhaps she/he could put you in touch with a nutritionist who could give you a specific plan to follow. I like well defined plans myself.
Keep us posted as to your progress.

This is a great site as well

Hi, nice to meet you! I agree with whoever said take baby steps. iVillage has been doing the change "one" challenge or diet not sure what it's called. Anyway, you change one thing in your diet each week. I feel like this simple idea has been a huge help to me. Now it took me quite a while just to lose 6 lbs. but it was change I could deal with and still feel like I accomplished something.
There is an article that was posted awhile back about getting fit in 3 moves which I've been doing. (I currently have fell off the wagon but plan to get back on maybe even today. lol) So I guess I mean I was doing and will continue to do and it was nice because I don't have a lot of time and it's not time consuming and again you increase the difficulty level each week. I found the link.

Now I didn't start out following it exactly. I did what I could do and increased like it said once a week. I could hardly do any sit ups to start but was able to go from 10 sit ups to 15 in just a few weeks. Be careful though, don't push yourself to hard or you could hurt yourself. It's frustrating to get started on something and then have to postpone to heal up.
I think if you just try to change little things to start at least until you get word from your Dr. you'll at least feel like your doing something and will hopefully lift your spirts a little. Also, check out the journal section if you haven't already.
