Sabrina, when you tried your first race, was it a sprint distance?

Was the swim indoors?

How long did you train for before the race?

Gee Miranda don't ask me For my first TRI i did everything wrong. LOL

Distance.... Olympic
Swim..... Open water Lake
Training... I started running in Feb>>>>>Biking in March<<<<< and Swimming in May for a June Race. LMAO Why because Someone told me I couldn't.. I'm strubborn

Seriously though your friend was right your first should be a sprint in a pool. I actually did one of these this summer and it was very nice. Friendly, and brief. As far as training goes I think most programs are 16-18 weeks long and that should give you plenty of time. So pick a race and count back x number of weeks. Don't worry if you miss a scheduled train day every now and then... most plans assume you won't be able to do them all all the time and some goof room is built in. ALSO, If you do miss a workout don't try to double or triple up. Just go on about your buisness and try harder to get the rest of them in. If you miss the same workout every week then you may need to redo your schedule a bit.

Good Luck you have more then enough time to train for a tri in the fall.
