Well, I lost 7 lbs. since January, but can't seem to drop any more. Routine is pretty much the same. I feel like I'd have to starve to get any lower. I know I should be happy for the 7 lbs, and I am, but I can't seem to get any lower than that. That first 7 was so much easier!

I agree with changing your routine - add some new foods into your diet, change the exercise you are doing. Anything to kind of shake up your body. Hang in there though - you have at lease made a start. I have lost 5 1/2 inches but have actually gained 5.5 lbs. Even though I know I am building muscle that numbers thing is getting to me. I think I am going to try starving myself for a little while, I need a jump start.

Congratulations on your success so far this year Sylvia!! I'm sure you are happy with the progress you've made so far, but understand your frustration in seeing things slow down a bit....I agree with Kerstin and Lisa too, a change in your workout is probably what will work best. Challenging yourself just that extra little bit. Check out this article too- http://www.healthdiscovery.net/articles/plateaus_pitfalls.htm

To quote just the end of the article
"If you've stopped losing weight, the key to getting off the plateau is to vary your program. The human body is an amazing piece of machinery, capable of adapting to just about any circumstance or stimulus. By shaking things up a bit and varying your program by introducing some new elements, you'll likely find yourself off the plateau and back on the road to progress in no time."

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! My actual exercise routine does vary a lot b/c I mix up Elliptical with Firm videos, some of which focus more on strength training and some of which focus more on cardio. I guess I meant that my routine was the same in terms of times/week that I work out and calories that I am taking in. Maybe I do need to go lower on the calories...ack!

Sylvie instead of lowering your calories, try switching up where your calories are coming from for a week, like increasing your carbs, or lowering your carbs, or changing how much protein you are getting.

Whew! Right there with you and happy for you. I hit plateaus often and agree with Miranda. I'll do a no carb. diet for three days (only) to jump start my body back into burning fat. (I know all the tricks, but lack the motivation sometimes). Congrats on your extra 2 lbs!
