I fit into size 8 capri pants!!!

Finally!!!! From size 16 down to 8 - and I can even sit down in them. :)
The regular jeans in size 8 though won't fit for a bit (they are 8 short which is always also narrower in the waist). Hey, can't wait to zip them up. That will be my final pants size!

Congrats to you, Monika!
Wow! It is so wonderful to read someone's elation at nearing a goal...and such a long goal it was. I'm glad I read your post today, because I am starting at a size 16 and it seems like I can't picture myself in a size 12 anymore.
How long did it take you to move from a 16 to a size 8? Were you a watchdog with your food intake and exercise? Were you naturally active before the weight gain? I'm a bookworm who was always sedentary, so I'm curious if bookworms can change their stripes.
Congratulations on this Capri victory!

Congratulations! You have inspired me. I am trying to get back to the 8's, but I didn't know if I would. I'm back into some 10's now so I will continue to push on ward now that I know it can be done.

I am SO happy for you!!!

Caryn,
I am also what you would call a bookworm. :)
At the beginning I had to use some tricks to really use the bike every morning (especially when I had to walk thru the rain to get to the gym). I mainly checked out a bunch of really good books from our library that I only allowed myself to read on the bike. If I wanted to continue reading my latest book, I had to bike. That was a great motivator! Some other folks I know tried the same method and failed though... it depends on how strong-willed you are. If I set myself some rules I always follow them and never cheat - that's just how I am.
After getting into the bike thing in the morning we actually moved into a bigger house and now I have my own workout room next to our master bedroom. I bought a nice recumbent bike, a weight bench, and a couple of weights. Now I still do my biking every morning (reading, or playing gameboy) and do stength training 4 times a week. Women's Health magazine and a nice section to rip out with whole body move for weights - saves a lot of time.
Food - sigh... We go out for dinner every night. I somehow fine some light choice that I really like at every restaurant and always drink only water (no appetizer for me). Once a week is desert night and I cut off about 1/3rd of whatever I get and don't eat that part. Some times I simply split the desert with my hubby. For breakfast I always have hot steel-cut oatmeal with unsweetened apple sauce and milk (some times I add cinnamon or frozen blueberries) and drink a grapefruit juice. Lunch: only 1 Luna bar and 1 Pria bar a bit later. Once a week I got for lunch - usually something Asian and I always don't eat about 1/3rd of my noodles or rice.
That's my own little "diet and workout" recipe. :) I lose about 4 - 5 pounds a month and have been on and off it for about 2.5 years. Some times I simply switch into maintenance mode for a bit and cut back a bit on my morning excercise - I won't lose weight but won't gain anything either.
Just pick one thing you want to change and do it!
Hope this helps!'
Monika
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
That is fabulous news!!
Wow! Thanks for the information. It definitely helps, even though I lack will power. The baby steps attitude of "just change one thing" is what stood out the most, as well as the 4-5 pounds per month. That is the secret. I lost 10 pounds a year for three years after my daughter and that is the only weight I have ever kept off. I knew that those pounds were a result of true changes in my life, not just "diets".
I think I am going to put your note in my journal to remind myself that a bookworm can change!
Thanks again!
