This happens to me a lot, mostly because of the weather of where I live. I really love sunny weather and probably should be living somewhere where I can get more. My dad was military and we use to live in the Philipean Islands, San Diego, and Florida while growing up. Once you get the nice weather in your blood it's hard living somewhere so different! I would love it if I could live in the Virgin Islands like IG---she is sooo lucky!
Anyway, I try to do something different than I usually do. Maybe listen to upbeat music first thing in the morning to try to set the tone of the day. Try a different workout routine, and perhaps choose a lunch that I haven't had in a while--like sushi and hot and spicy soup. If it's the environment I will try to declutter the house a bit more, maybe put new potpourri around, or just open the curtains more so more light comes in. I try not to overeat because overeating is what makes me really lazy. Have you ever noticed on days when you are really busy and you don't eat as much as you normally do how much extra energy you seem to have? You know if you take a break and eat you will lose that energy and not want to finish what you are doing? Maybe it's just me but that happens to me a lot. I guess the key is to try to change your day around so that you feel that you have done something differently than you normally would.
Another great motivator is to try on a swim suit or summer dress that you would like to wear this summer. I hate the feeling of the first really hot string of days in the summer and the realization that you still can't fit into anything because of wayward eating and not exercising. I don't want anything creeping up on me this year! I wish I could help more but the truth is I struggle with lazy days too and I am no expert on motivation.
Hi Miranda, Do you have an old friend that you can call who can make you laugh so hard you snort, cry and gafaw? I'd give them a call. Sometimes thats all I need. A good long hardy laugh. It won't make up for the PMS, eating not so well or weather, but old friends sure can put a smile on your face X:)
AND to help put a smile on your face...here is a short essay I wrote after my first date with my boyfriend. My cell phone dropped out of my pants right before he arrived. I sent it out to my friends the next day cause I couldn't believe it.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In case any of you are ever in the position where you should accidentally drop your cell phone in a toilet right before you are about to pee-right before a date...keep these handy tips in mind:
1) don't panic - don't pee... 2) don't immediately pull your pants up - your butt will have splashed toilet water on it and hence will make your pants look like you've just pee'd... 3) do not yell at the toilet bowl... 4) do not attempt to use the bowl scrubber to get the phone out - won't work... 5) realize that yes cell phone do still work for a few minutes after submerged in toilet water and yes your date will call just as you rescue your phone... 6) do not yell at the phone... 7) yes your date will be lost and no you will not be able to dry the phone and give him directions before the phone goes dead... 8) do not yell into the phone after its died... 9) do not forget to put your pants on (that had to dry) before running downstairs to run to your neighbors house to use their phone...or at least catch yourself at the front door first... 10) do not panic when you realize the only real shot you’ve had at sex in a long time is lost driving around town and your only shot at contacting him is your one eyed Willy neighbor's phone… 11) try your hardest not to tackle your date on the lawn in front of your apartment when he finally arrives…but if you must…remember to stick your boobs out to distract him from realizing your butt is still a little wet and remember to tell him the phone dropped in the sink…most men won’t find it romantic to hear that the woman wrapped around them is holding anything just rescued from a toilet….
That's too cute! I should print it out and hang it up at work.
I work for a place that repairs cell phones and pagers and one of the number one causes for malfunctioning phones/pagers is being dropped in the toilet. ;o)
I'm sorry that the posts re.spring didn't help with your mood today.....really, I am!! You know even down here where the sun shines 90% of the time I get in a funk- and sometimes for no real reason. Here's some of the things that help haul me out of it;
1. Cleaning-- I know a little strange. But I feel great when I have a clean home ready for me. I'm talking floors, bathroom, kitchen, bed linens- the works. I also play some upbeat music while cleaning. (I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and so when the house begins to look and feel real shabby, so do I!)
2. "Me" time-- this one works really well too. Get everything ready for a 'take care of me' evening. Start off with a soothing bath- no books, just some soft music- take as long as you can, ideally you should shrivel up! Shower....and take care of 'hair' needs ;-) Slather a smelly lotion on. Then comes the nails- hands and feet! Manicure, pedicure, trim, file, buff, paint. Finally have a great movie to enjoy in bed! Bliss--- and hopefully
I'm glad it helped! Thankfully he is a boob man to begin with so that little effort worked very well X:) Now that you've smiled, you should get a glass of wine and good movie and give yourself a break.
I like the little Eeyore. Maybe you need an energetic friend like Tigger to cheer you up. I have a friend like that, but sometimes I feel like I don't have the energy for her either. She really is good for me though.
The one thing about PMS and then what follows is that you know you'll feel better in a few days just because it's over. I actually didn't feel too bad about not making HKD this weekend because I had cramps, and I didn't want to be where anyone was. I try not to miss even during that week, but if I have to I have to.
Maybe trying something new will help. Preparing for the 5K has brought me some excitement, but then I understand the crappy weather thing. It can set one back. I've read that you're planning on being involved in a tri this year. That's exciting. Is there any place there where you can go to swim or run inside until the weather breaks?
I haven't read the other posts, but I'm sure they have offfered lots of help getting out of the rut.

8) do not yell into the phone after its died...
9) do not forget to put your pants on (that had to dry) before running downstairs to run to your neighbors house to use their phone...or at least catch yourself at the front door first...
10) do not panic when you realize the only real shot you’ve had at sex in a long time is lost driving around town and your only shot at contacting him is your one eyed Willy neighbor's phone…
