It's tough to do what you are supposed to when you DON'T have and excuse to slack off, it is even harder when you can somehow justify it.
Whenever I have an illness or injury that sidelines me for a while, I start really watching and reading more fitness stuff. It really helps to get me excited to go back to the gym, it reminds me of WHY I shouldn't be pigging out and it is really inspirational. I got over my pnomonia this winter by indulging in Discovery Channel Body Challenge re-runs. It helps.
Thanks Karen, I hope to get back to the gym this week. I tryed the water aerobics, but the schedule was not convienant for me, and it just didn't feel challenging enough since I didn't sweat. Does that make any sense. I do have a subscription of Fitness magazine, I really need to pick it up and look at it. I also need to start packing my lunch, instead of being lazy and going fast food.
Hey there Deb-- you know those little changes (like bringing your lunch with you) add up to BIG results. You've probably seen the slogan here before, but we love the saying "BABY STEPS" ...

Regarding water aerobics, I see your point about not 'sweating' and therefore not feeling as accomplished about it, but it really does burn a lot of calories, and uses a helluva lot of muscles!! Pity the timing is inconvenient for you; the one my
Ya know, Deb, I noticed that the times when I get down about my life are the exact times that I'm thinking about what I can't do. I just figured that out a few days ago and it's made a big difference for me to start asking myself "Well, Ginger, what can you do?" I immediately gives you that inspirational feeling on the inside and you r mind automatically starts to figure out ways you can do it. So, what CAN you do. There are lots of things you can do lifting weights while sitting in a chair or laying on your back on the floor. You have to get your mind to moving to get your body to moving!
Hey guys, thanks for the pep talk! I went to the doctor yesterday, and he gave me the green light to go back to cardio, I went for a walk this afternoon to kinda ease my way back into exercising. I ate better today, but not angelic,
Yay! Good for you Deb-- walking is a great way to ease back into things!
By the way....we have a journal section on the board, down a few folders. A good few of us use it, I believe there are 10 of us journalling this week! Feel free to wander on down there, browse through them. Join us with your own if you'd like!
