Finding nutritional value on foods?

I sometimes like to throw things together or make my own version of a meal in low fat and low cal. How can I find out the nutritional value of these dishes? I plugged some of them into fitday but it only gives you the fat/carb/proteins. Any ideas?

Depending on how detailed you are willing to be, you can tally the ingredients, figure out how many servings you have and divide.
For instance, if you make a dish with 2 c mozz cheese, 2 c tomato sauce, 2c noodles and 1 lb ground turkey you can take the totals of each ingredient, then divide by however many servings you end up with.
I'm not sure if fitday will let you do whole meals or just a portion, you might have to do it the old fashioned way.
Good luck, let us know what you come up with.

I believe fitday will allow you to 'create' your own foods (ie. dishes)- it might be time consuming, and I'm not sure if you will get all the info you're looking for.

Hi Martina,

Another site you can try is http://www.nutritiondata.com/index.html. This site is from the US government I think. If you look in the top right area of the first screen, there is a FoodSearch box, and you can put in a food. I tried "sweet potato."

Hey Martina, I have a huge list of "custom" foods I've put into fitday.
