Anyone have an "ipod" thing?

Since I now walk while everyone is still sleeping, I dug up my old casset walkman to be able to listen to some music while walking. But it's old and I don't have many cassett tapes any more...it's kind of bulky too. I thought about a CD player, but they are big too and skip a lot don't they? So I know I am behind the times but I heard about these ipod things that you download your music to and they are small. I guess they make them to strap to your arm while running and still work? Can anyone tell me if it's worth the money...because I looked on amazon.com and they are 200 or more? I guess you just use your computer to download it into it? Is that from your own CDs or does it have to be online? Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I would like to be able to run with music...and I'm not crazy about the radio. I like to pick my own songs. Oh, and I don't run *yet* lol, just walk, but that's my goal...so I'd want it to stay put and not be bulky. I would really appreciate everyone's opinions!

Don't have the iPod but I do have an MP3 player. Small, lightweight, straps to my bicep, load my own songs (some I purchased off the net, some I just cc'd from my own FABULOUS CD collection ;0). I live by it at the gym.
Doesn't skip. Isn't bulky. I can change the music at will without hassles. Paid about $100 for it a year + ago (now it's listed for $69...lol... love tech price changes).
Check them out...
Lynn - lives by her MP3... nothing gets that 'last mile' started like Blondies - "Call Me" and Clapton's "Layla".
I have one and love it. It is not an actual ipod but it is called an irock! and it is basicaly the same. It plugs into the computer and downloads the songs you have on the computer . You can also put your CD's on the computer and then on the ipod but I have never done that before. For me it is better to download a bunch of albums from Napster or some place like that and the burn it myself. I usually have to fight my kids for it and as of Monday it is "out of batteries".They won't mess with it if it doesn't have batteries . LOL
You can also buy extra memory so you can load even more songs.

I know this is a no-no... don't sue me...lol. This is the mp3 I have. Comes with arm band, etc. Easy. Easy. Easy.
The band, the headphones, the wires come with magnetic clips that hook to your clothes (nothing to trip on) and on the magnet there are controls for volume, etc. It's a gem.

Not 'selling' this baby, not a paid sponsor... just a user of the product say, 'WTG'!

We got a digital jukebox. My husbands baby. I like it and it is nice to have such a variety of music. No skipping and light weight. We have a converter (tape to headphone plugin) for the car so it can be heard through the speakers.
OK, for me, as a technologically stupid girl, how many songs will it hold?

Not a clue what you are all talking about--- I am so, SO behind the times, lol!

Thanks everyone. :) I learned some things on the subject. I am sorry though that it seems I opened the door for a spammer to post on the board! lol
