Stability Ball and Resistance Bands

I went to a Sports Rehab store and bought a heavy-duty stability ball fit to my height and weight (I'm petite but not very fit, at 5'4" and around 118 lbs.). I also had them cut about 6 feet of medium strength resistance band. I bought this book by Denise Austin called _Sculpt Your Body with Balls and Bands_.

I feel like a litte kid with this new exercise equipment. I know at the age of 35 I need to work on balance and strength training as well as cardio. I never really liked lifting weights and going to the gym.

I bought a heart rate monitor and a mini-trampoline and that's going to be my cardio workout.

The price of this equipment was under $70.00:

$39.00 for the mini trampoline
$6.00 for the resistance band
$20.00 for the stability ball

The book combines yoga and pilates with the stability ball and bands.

Has anyone tried this method of exercising? Please share your opinions here.

I use resistance bands with the slim in 6 package and I love them. They are a lot harder then they appear and sculpt quickly.
I have a stability ball but the one and only time I attempted to workout on it, I felt like I was sunken into it too much.

I have used resistance bands before, but not a lot.

I have resistance bands, one for a Leslie Sansone walking series (which I love) and another one for a upper/lower and cardio workout- also love, but haven't used as consistantly. I also have a ball- which works great for push-ups and crunches.

New exercise equipement is cool- no matter what age we are ;-)
Enjoy!

Hi Nadine and welcome (I haven't been around much lately...if you've been here long, forgive my late welcome)

As for my exercises...

Crunches on a ball...YES, they're very effective.

Resistance bands...not so much.

Hello: I finished my three-week, 6-day a week, 12-minute a day stability ball and resistance bands workout from the Denise Austin book, Scuplt your body with balls and bands in 12 mintues a day.

I'm so glad I got away from using the tapes. I think the tapes take up way too much time, and you can't really progress after a week or two weeks, probably why celebs get such a great workout with a personal trainer.

The hardest part for me was trying to squeeze in the cardio. I'm only doing about 30 minutes of cardio on my mini trampoline in my target heart rate zone 3x weekly.

The resistance bands that I use do provide good strength training. I bought 6 feet at a sports rehab store. The resistance and the length is better than what you'd find in a package.

Nadine-- sounds like you have established a program for yourself. How do you feel? What kind of things are you doing with the resistance bands/ball??

Good luck with keeping it up~
