Hello All:

I am new here. I was just wondering if any of you had heard anything about a new book,
Body for Life for Women: A Woman's Plan for Physical and Mental Transformation by Pam Peeke? It looks very interesting but I was wondering if anyone had tried it and had any results or knew much about it.

Thanks,
Catz

Welcome Catz.....I believe one of our posters (it may be sniffle_sally) did BFL before. Maybe she will be around later to give her two cents on it. I know there is a board here in iVillage for it too- http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-fbbodylife

This board is full of support, no matter what "diet", etc...you're doing. Stick around~

Many thanks to both of you. I think I will give it a try and would like very much to stick around and join in some discussions!

I just got married this past New Year's Eve and between that and Christmas I put on 10 pounds and can't seem to shake it and am getting very frustrated. I watch what I eat (have been following Weight Watchers for years, but don't seem to lose any longer, just stay the same), do kickboxing twice a week, weights and have just started cycling again and hoping to do a bit of running (tonight's my first night). Although, to be honest, my "running" is more like walking with a hop! But, I keep trying!!! Any advice would be welcome!!

Cheers,
Catz

I've read and used Body for Life the original and it's very good. I'm not sure what the difference is with the "body for life for women" since Body for Life by Bill Phillips is intended for both sexes and he's the original writer, so she must be using the same principles or wouldn't really be able to use the name, it has to be trademarked.

The original is designated for both women and men so not sure WHY they specialized for women or even if it's the same dieting regime.

Thanks for the input. I did some searches on the internet to read customer reviews. It sounds like it is pretty much the same program as the original, just written by a female doctor who took the 12 week challenge. The excerpts I read sounded quite funny. A poster on another site said that she has a regular column in Prevention magazine.

They have the original book at my library, maybe I will just get that one!

Many thanks and I hope to stick around and chat with everyone.

I'd save my money, from that description it doesn't sound like they tweaked it all that much.

I think I am going to give it a try. I am heading over to the bookstore at lunch time. Since I don't have the original book anyway, and have to get one or the other (it wasn't available at my library) I am going to pick up the new one. I liked her writing in the excerpt that I read. I guess she was on the Today show yesterday, launching it. Missed it though.

Cheers,
Catz.
