New to board - could use some tips!

Hi all...this looks like a great board for support and advice. I need to get a idea of what realistic expectations are. I would like to lose 30-40lbs by this fall. Is it possible to shed 2-3 lbs a week consistently? I think I know what I have to do...I eat relatively well throughout the course of the day - nighttime is the hard part. I don't usually get home from work until 7:00 or after...so i tend to eat late -- Also, I need to implement an exercise routine...which is the hardest part for me. I work late - and go in early as well --am usually at work by 7:00 -- I don't consider myself a morning person..so it is really hard for me to get up an exercise....but I KNOW this i what I have to do to reach my goals! is there a good board on here for a buddy system for exercising?

Hi Tallgrl, does that mean you are tall? Then my name would be shortgrl, lol. I'm only 5 feet tall. Anyway, I wanted to say hi and to tell you that I started trying to lose weight right at the end of January, and so far I have lost 29 pounds. So that is about three months at an average of 10 pounds loss a month. I am counting my calories w/ fitday (www.fitday.com) and it has been pretty easy for the most part. I have my rough weeks where it's harder...mainly due to cycle issues, lol. Like you, I am very determined to work hard at losing the weight. Exercising is a little bit of a struggle for me too...because I've never been one to exercise really...but I'm trying to walk five days a week. I'd like to work up to running one day. I am glad you came to the board and hope to see you post again. :) You might enjoy doing a journal...it's a great sort of buddy system because we can encourage each other and cheer each other. :)

Hi, nice to meet you. I hear ya about fitting in that exercise. I really don't like to exercise plus I have a pretty busy schedule in the morning and the evenings with kids.


I've just slowly started making small changes as I go along. Seems like the closer I get to my goal the harder it gets.


My daughter needed to go to the rec. to work on her cardio so I've been going with her. I don't think she is going to let me get out of it. At the very least I'm going to have to take her so she can go so I might as well go on in myself. Hard to find someone that you feel obligated enough to which when then hopefully keep you on track.
