Regimen for a marathon

I'd like to run in a marathon one day. I'd love to hear any tips on getting started and how to gradually build up my endurance as well as staying motivated to reach my goal. I would like to run in a marathon perhaps in one or two years from now. Also, what kind of eating plans I should stick to while running? Do I run 3 or 4 or 5 times a week? Do I have to do another types of exercises as well? Is alcohol bad? Like wine? I don't really drink beer and drink wine on some days of the week. I might drink a margarita on some weekends if I'm out with friends. Will it affect my regimen? How to do it if I work full time and usually have no energy after work? Is it worth running in a marathon? Thanks!

Hi Amy :) I'm waiting for someone to answer your questions because I want to run as well. I have very little endurance for anything right now. I've always been sort of puny, lol. I started walking a few months ago...30 minutes on my treadmill at 3.0. I am going to just build from there, but have no real idea of how to do that. I just know I want to build very slowly, lol. I'd love to run in marathons! One day I hope. :) Do you run already?
