A Journey Begins
6
Sat, 04-30-2005 - 2:48pm

After a very stressful two years filled with the loss of my mother, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem bouts, hating my job, the people at my job, my boss, several failed weight loss experiments, and finding comfort in Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. Having survived all of the above and no longer stressed, I am about to embark on a journey to lose the 47lbs spare tire I have developed. I am looking into using the Fat Flush plan and have joined the challenge on Shape.com and looked into a lot of the fitness info provided by ivillage. If any of my fellow sisters have any advice, words of encouragement, or information to pass my way I welcome it with open arms.

Scorpio, I'm so sorry about your mother passing away....that must have been very difficult to go through. I'm glad you are doing better now. You sound very determined and we are glad you decided to join our board! I have never heard of fat flush? When I started out, I had 43 pounds to lose. I have 11.5 left to go. I have found it very easy to do this by counting my calories. At www.fitday.com I was able to find out how many I burn, and how many I should eat to lose up to 2 pounds a week. My husband has been doing it right along with me and lost the same amount of weight as I have. Many of us keep journals on the board...it's a great way to keep track of your progress, and get encouragement and cheers. :) I hope to see you around!

Hello and welcome.

I can certainly understand hating a job. It's so hard to be working full time and looking for work, taking long lunches to interview, and looking for an apartment out of the university area's party central.

It's good to hear that you're on the other side of the stresses and coming around the corner to a more healthy path ahead. The effort is really worth it. We just have to keep reminding ourselves of that. And this is a great board. You'll get a lot of support and advice here.
