So what is YOUR routine?

As we've all discovered... fitness doesn't 'just happen'... if it did, Nike wouldn't have made a fortune off of 'just do it'. Health is a verb.
Ok...so... what do YOU do? What is your routine? Is your schedule sacred? Do you involve your family/children/friends?
Here's mine.
M,T,TH,F - 45 minutes on treadmill, 45 minutes of weights.
S/S - tennis or hiking or something with ds and/or friends. Sometimes 1x a weekend, sometimes more. These days are totally flexible as the 'active life' is built into our week and the weekends are for playing.
My schedule is not to be compromised. Once I made it clear to MYSELF and others that I am unavailable 8:30 - 10:30 during the week (thank goodness I've organized my life to allow for that...) I don't skip out.
One thing that's kept me going is I made a 'deal' with DS (8). Everyday I have him go to Karate (4x a week), I'll go to the gym. He wants to get through the belts to the 'blue' level (weapons training...lol) and he's only been doing this a few months but he's been working HARD and shooting up fast. He has his first tournament Saturday so he's been working HARDER THAN EVER and I'm keeping pace.
What do YOU do?

On rare occasion, I have to move a workout to the morning (like today due to an evening dinner meeting), but I prefer using the stress/energy of the day to my benefit to workout after work.
M,Thu are 45 min. running/walking and 30 min. weights
Wed. 30 min cardio and Pilates
Tue,Fri are Hap Ki Do classes at 7 p.m.
Sat. Hap Ki Do at 3 p.m. usually Pilates after class
When the weather is nice, I usually walk to class, but grab a ride home-usually don't have the energy to hike back up the hill after class.
After the 5K next Sunday, I would like to move Pilates and weights to the same day and run/walk maybe twice a week, but I'll still be walking to HKD so I should be in good shape with the cardiio. It it's raining on run/walk evenings, I have cardio DVDs.
I have made friends in HKD, and was running with someone who writes for the paper where I work since I was just beginning, and she was just back from an injury. But my long time girlfriends don't really workout and definitely aren't into martial arts. SO only plays golf, but he said he would like to hike some this summer. That would be great.

Gosh.

Lynn-that is really great advice. I like that motto, mantra, whatever.I am going to use that in addition to what i always tell myself..."I (with the emphasis on "I") am in control". Not my body, but "I" am in control." "I have control over my body." It really helps me. It's amazing how my body gets under subjection when i put it under subjection.

Hey Lynn-
After many years of trying to get myself into a workout routine, I've come to realize, I'm not a routine person. I don't enjoy exercising on a schedule. It takes all my effort to 'schedule' weight lifting twice a week.
I like to run at night after work when I don't have to worry about time, but I'll run in the morning if I have to. I bike to work as often as I can plus do rides at night if I'm not in the mood to run. I swim when I'm not in the mood to run or bike. I usually do weights on the nights I swim cause they are both at the gym. Its mostly a what-I-feel-like-doing-that-night-after-work-routine I guess.

Sadly, I'm a little like Miranda-- where I don't really have a schedule. I do try to pre-schedule my week before hand, depending on what is going on that particular week. This week I had 2 after work meetings/parent night- so juggled my agenda around a little. Next week I have parent/teacher conferences.....a busy time of the year.
I suppose at the moment I have *goals* rather than a schedule. For the past couple of weeks I have tried to fit in 'something' (anything!!) active at least 3-4 times a week. With summer vacation coming soon I hope to get a more 'regimented' schedule going!
