quit smoking and dieting

Hi ladies, I am having a delima. I have recently quit smoking and am facing a real hard time with my "lifestyle change". I don't know if I can continue with both major changes in my life. I am diabetic and the extra weight is dangerous to my health, but so is smoking. If I smoke, I can control my food intake, if I eat, then I can control my smoking cravings. I feel like I have two evils fighting each other every minute of every day. I am on the patch for smoking, but I still have the cravings. I need to loose weight and quit smoking but doing both at the same time is rediculous. Please give me some input on how to handle this situation. I have no car access during the day because my husband is at work and I am a stay at home mom of 2 children under the age of 3. I have cleaned every closet and windowsill in my house and have run out of things to keep myself occupied. I want to scream!!! What should I do, loose the weight first then quit smoking? Or dive into the nearest snack cake box? I have nothing healthy to munch on beacuse grocery shopping day is not until Wednesday. I am miserable and I don't want to live with the constant turmoil anymore. I am about to break. HELP PLEASE!

Way to go on the smoking front.
You need to find a hobby it keep you hands busy. how about a needle craft, or a garden?

Cindy, congratulations on quitting smoking!! I can see where you might 'see' a dilemma, but as Miranda says; you are setting yourself up for failure by comparing the two (weight loss/smoking) when you think of them.
Now that the weather is getting warmer- do you have a garden? Get out and start planting/weeding/pruning. Or do you live by a park? Walk with the children and get some active time into your day....not only will these things keep you busy...they should help you crave cigarettes less, and get you moving!
