QOTW- Vacations...

Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything....but seeing as I get my 'summer vacation' next week these questions came to mind:

1. What's your favorite thing about being on vacation (besides the obvious of not having to go to work)?

2. Do you enjoy well planned trips, or spur of the moment ones?

3. When on vacation do you stick to your exercise/eating plan?

4. Where's the best/most exciting

I've been twice, once when I stayed with my parents and once on a cruise we swung by there. I love St. Thomas, Meagans Bay is so gorgeous!!!!

1. What's your favorite thing about being on vacation (besides the obvious of not having to go to work)?
I guess if I had to pick one favorite thing it would be being able to stay up late. It's becoming more and more apparent to me how much of a night owl I am!!

2. Do you enjoy well planned trips, or spur of the moment ones?
I like the planned ones! And living on an island most of our getaways have to be planned, lol! Though a spur of the moment trip could be taken to the BVI, or even just over to St. John.

3. When on vacation do you stick to your exercise/eating plan?
If I'm totally honest I would have to say that neither stays continuously on track while I'm away.

4. Where's the best/most exciting

...yea it's a beautiful spot! When you were here did you go up to Mountain Top (famous for their Banana Daiquiri's)? The view of Magens is spectacular from there!

We have camped as far away as Tenessee, but usually we camp here in Michigan. Tawas Point is in northern Michigan on the "sunrise side" of the state. The campground goes out to the Point with Tawas Bay on the right and Lake Huron on the left. There's a pretty, old lighthouse out on the point that you can see from almost anywhere in the campground, of course you can see the light from anywhere out there at night. I love the Great Lakes; last year we camped on Lake Michigan on the west side of the state where the sunsets are nice. I just love hearing the water, especially at night.

I really want to take some kind of an island vacation someday. I just love beaches. Maybe SO and I can take a romantic getaway once we get settled.

...oh, that's where it is ;-)

Sounds like a beautiful spot-- does that lighthouse sound off in the middle of the night too? Where I lived in Ireland we had a lighthouse just off the coast from my house...and it sounded off at all hours....now when I hear that sound I just get all reminiscent, lol!

Actually I think the saying 'No problem' is officially from Puerto Plata-- that's where we stayed, though I don't remember what the place was called. I was about 15...so many (many) moons ago, lol!

Your hotel looks great, and I love the idea of all-inclusive!! Handy!

While in NYC I'm going to stay with a friend and probably veg most of the time. I might, if time (not sure how long I'll be there, it all depends on when I leave Ireland- as I will be flying stand-by from Dublin to JFK) go do some shopping.

Yeah yeah. Rub it in. :p

1. What's your favorite thing about being on vacation (besides the obvious of not having to go to work)? Not having to wake up at a specific time, or if I do, it's for something MUCH more fun than work. :)

2. Do you enjoy well planned trips, or spur of the moment ones? I used to enjoy planned trips, but the more I go to Hawaii and just pick a few things to do, for sure, and plan a date for them, i.e. 3 or less things per week, I find I am much more relaxed and I have a MUCH better time, and the time does NOT FLY by....which means I come back more relaxed. :)

3. When on vacation do you stick to your exercise/eating plan? Nope. But then again, I tend to be more active when I'm on vacation. Hiking, swimming, walking, etc.

4. Where's the best/most exciting place you've visited? I haven't been many places, so I'd have to say Hawaii. lol

5. Are you taking a vacation this year? If so, where to/what will you do? Yup. Leaving July 12 for Hawaii....yes, again. We will probably go swimming, my cuz will want to surf, so maybe I'll try again, hike, hang out, etc. Anything and everything. Heck, one year, we went to the movies and watched Lilo & Stitch. lol

I was waiting for someone to point out I was rubbing it in, lol- I knew I could count on you, lol!!!!

You know you make a great point in question 2 about spur of the moment. I didn't think of actually doing spur of the moment things while on vacation. Thanks for bringing that up ;-)

Now don't forget to post some pics when you get back from Hawaii-- do you still have that little teddy bear? Is he going too??

This lighthouse does not sound off. The city of Tawas is across the bay. We pass through it on the way around out to the campground, out on the point. You can see the city lights at night, especially since it's so dake out in the campground. You can also hear the trains that pass through the city sometimes at night when the sound carries. It's kind of funny since we grew up very near an active rail line, speaking of getting reminiscent.

We went to teen camp with our church once, on the west side of the state. There was a one of those pier things that went way out into the water with two
